Ploy to drive up the price.

Packers don't like Tangini's apparent hard-ball approach, and they're pushing buttons.

Do you really think that if the Packers told him he was close to being traded to the Vikings instead of the Jets that he would've accepted a marketing deal?

He won't stay retired. I think he still wants to play.

Unless he is a greedy bastard.

Well, he's letting his agent speak with the team, which is a start.

You don't go through all this, this crazyness just to stay retired. He really does have that itch. I completely dismiss all this marketing/merchandising deal.

What I see possible is Favre to Jets for, say, a 4th: Jets deal Favre to Minnesota for a 1st or 2nd.

if he stays retired, that's really all he is. a greedy, greedy bastard.

i don't think i will ever utter another positive comment about Favre if he takes the marketing deal option. that shows this was just all a bullshit stunt.

I don't think GB want to take that risk. Even if he trades Favre to the Jets, the Jets can in return and trade him to a NFC North team. Even if GB and Jets make a agreement not allowing them to do that, the Jets can release him at the end of the season. And then Favre can still play next season for Vikings or whoever.

Good point. You don't do all this complaining and then decide to take some cash to push Green Bay Packer polo shirts.

Favre will be playing somewhere this fall.

haha, but still, even if he hated the Jets more than ANYTHING in the world, but he really wanted to play football more than anything and we were his only option, wouldn't he at least give it a go? i don't know. no one knows anymore!

I think the conflicting news reports means that Favre is pulling many strings. He might be saying that he might just do a marketing deal so that the Jets are willing to give him a new contract, offer the Pack a better deal.

I never said he sucks. He's a bad fit for the team and even HE knows it! If it was a fit for him, he'd be a Jet by now.

ESPN is now reporting that Favre is considering a middle relief role for the Mets, he's also considering an offer to be the new lead singer for Van Halen.

Nope, I'm willing to sit on the bench for the sake of making our team better. ;)
