You got to be kidding, buddy. It's been said about 100 times in this thread that he's the missing piece we need to win it all, that's most of the rationale for getting him.
That's the whole issue. Not being a Favre fan to begin with, I don't want to give up too much because I think there's a real good chance it would backfire. A #1 pick would be disaster, Favre comes here and sucks, then we forfeit a top 10 pick or something. If it could be done without risking setting us back years it's worth trying, but it seems like he would come at a high cost if he's still as good as you guys all think he is.
Favre's impact could be greater than that of Moss on the Patriots last year. That is why you make this move. Bring in Favre, please. I want a real reason to be excited about this team next year.
Baker, Pennington and a fifth to Green Bay for Farve (he has to sign for two years) and a third round pick?
Getting farve is a step back for the franchise. This is all a play to dupe people and try and lesson the blow when the PSLs come out.
I don't understand how people can say they are"not Favre fans" or that they don't rate him...somebody posted he sucked 10 years ago. The guy is outstanding, a ledgend....3 time MVP, leader in yards and td's one of the best ever and there is a small chance he could be coming to New York. Are you kidding me? I'm not sure I care what we'd have to give up for him. This would be exciting indeed if it happened. I have a suspicion he won't want to come though
If they ask for Chad and a 2 or a 3 then you have to do it. He not only would be good for 2 years but he will help Clemens how to develop.
8-8 has you all laughing in New England huh? You should have seen us all cracking up at 17-1 down here. Now leave the local librarys only computer alone and go make us some syrup or something.
Favre would give us the best QB in the division if you only count QB's that didn't have the oppositions defensive signals.
Doesn't anyone remember the Ronnie Lott/Art Monk experiment? Favre's last three years have been bad, bad, great. He's old. AND, I love the Madden mentality that say's a QB can wander into Training Camp, LATE, to a team he's never been on, Players he's never played with, for 6 weeks, and run the offense effectively. Of COURSE. Needless to say.
Honestly the only thing I worry about if Farve does come over is injuries. I hope the O-Line will come up big and keep him from getting slammed into the ground or twisted up in the middle of a sack. I don't care if it's Farve, Pennington, Clemens or Ainge. I will support any QB that will lead this team to the road for the Super Bowl.
My Favourite non-Jet player, playing for the Jets!!! I like Clemens but this would give us a definate top QB for a couple of years. I could even live through Favre crying about retirement in the off-season, if he were to play here for 2 years.
I don't know what people are complaining about, but I am so excited about Favre possibly coming to the Jets. It would be the biggest thing to happen to us in years.
I'd like to know how much help Brady got from the taping, they didn't do it last year and he played pretty well. Favre is nowhere near as good as Brady today and Favre at his peak was not as good as Brady has been.
Not because Favre could come here. but Brady has been good at what? Throwing 5 yard passes. I just don't have a whole lot of respect for what he's accomplished because he does it by quick screen passes and quick passes then the receivers make the plays.
favre is everything this team needs. as far as this media circus that everyone is concerned about, the jets always have a media circus so what the fuck is the difference. the bottom line is he is much better than what we have for the team we have.
