This isn't going to help him. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...-michigan-bar/2011/08/02/gIQA61XopI_blog.html
Um, I still want Braylon. I'd love to have him back at a reduced price, and quite frankly he would help our WR depth, in case anyone gets hurt or Cotch isn't 100%.
I can't imagine him being a Jet anymore, and certainly not with Cotchery still here (i.e. they'd do something with Cotch first).
I won't say it'll never happen, because I never expected that Brett Favre would be the Jet's starting QB, but I'll just say it's very very unlikely at this point.
At a reduced price, I think Tanny is thinking about bringing him back in. Im guess that is why we are hearing trade rumors on Cotch. I will not be surprised if we traded Cotch and signed Edwards with in 24 hours. In Edwards defense, he wasn't involved in the fight directly, maybe he had a chance to stop it though.
The nagging thought that comes to mind is which of those three, Plax, Holmes or Edwards would be willing to line up in the slot? Or would they just forget the slot completely?
Plax will be Y receiver on the left, alone. Edwards will be the burner on the right, X. Santonio will play Z receiver on the right slot. If either X or Y doesn't get double-team, they are the primary target. If both X and Y are double-teamed, then Braylon flies deep and Santonio is open in the clear out.
Holmes, no question. I would think other teams would offer a bit more than we would, but nobody in their right mind is going to give him a multiple-year deal. If Cotchery comes off the books, he could be a candidate. We'd have that 4 million next year to start a contract if he keeps out of trouble. I wouldn't count on it, though. If he gets in any trouble for this, his probation becomes a problem.
Maybe...but I doubt Plax has the same speed and Holmes is your most valuable guy. Somebody will try and kill him coming from the slot, no doubt.
I really hope the jets still find a way to bring braylon back. He really seemed to flourish last year after getting over his drop issues. How many times did Sanchez hit Braylon for a long TD pass? There was definitely more than a few.
If this rumor comes true, I think the whole Cotchery situation will make a lot more sense to a lot of people.
I'd be really really really REALLY excited if we brought back braylon on the cheap. It took me a while to come to grips we werent bringing him back. this would be huge. as far as the slot WR stuff, i dont think its an issue, i think we would use everyone situationally. maybe even rotating guys in and out to keep them fresh, especially a 34 year old plax. how about an empty backfield look with Edwards, Holmes, Plax, cotchery, and keller
If Edwards is re-signed, Cotchery will likely be shipped out or cut. The coaching staff loves Jeremy Kerley. He'd have it easy getting open as a rookie with all of that talent surrounding him.
