They talked about it on NFL network on Sunday afternoon when they were talking to that guy that has the whiteboard behind him that lists all the still available FAs.
a few differences: 1) Santonio is the better all-around receiver 2) Correct me if I'm wrong but Santonio hasn't had any off the field issues in well over a year now. 3) Santonio Holmes isn't on probation, and therefore, isn't in danger of violating said probation and receiving jail time in a correctional facility for any legal infraction, however trivial or inconsequential it may be. Holmes is only in danger of being reprimanded by the NFL. That is a significant difference.
^Santonio is on his last strike. Maybe the same for Edwards as well. I hope Tanny has some sort of clause in that contract regarding Santonio's strike three.
Yes, but again, the NFL's "3 strikes" policy is very different than actual legal trouble. For one thing, everything is open to interpretation by Goodell. For another, if the infraction is relatively minor, Goodell's ruling could always be appealed by the NFLPA and wind up in the hands of an arbiter. Violating your probation and violating the league's personal conduct policies are fundamentally different.
Holmes is one joint from suspension from football. Edwards is one action from suspension from freedom.
Well this explains why the Jets did not offer him a contract. After paying Cro. Edwards was not affordable. Seeing as he is not getting any other nibbles he may want to lower his asking price yet again. If stays with this mindest, he may price himself out of the game.
It's crazy how the offseason started with many fans here wanting Edwards brought back with a big contract instead of Holmes. Now he's at the point where his price tag is dropping lower and lower and still no teams want him. Funny how quickly things change
Didn't really mean things changed for us.. meant they changed for Edwards.. he was expecting a big deal from the Jets, or someone.. and now he's gonna have to play 1 year for basically peanuts.
Wow... for that kind of money I would've liked him back instead of Plax @ 3. I'd feel a lot better with Holmes + Edwards... even considering a probable Cotchery trade...
he really would be a steal to be brought back on a one year deal, but it's SO highly unlikely. The 4 wide set would be interesting that's for sure Plax/Holmes on one side Edwards/Cro on the other... He would literally have to play for peanuts...
Yeah but at this point with this guy it's pretty damn hard to be confident committing 5 years to him. I'd be more interested in seeing if his price keeps slipping and the Jets consider bringing him back on a 1 year deal.. especially if they move Cotchery.
Agreed... we'll see I guess. Mike Sims-Walker got 3.7 mill on a 1yr "prove it" deal... I wonder how much he'll get. Cardinals would be a great fit with Fitzgerald as WR1, Stuckey in the slot & Heap + rookie Housler at TE. He'd also re-unite with his friend Rhodes...
Sanchez & Edwards had good chemistry I think. That play where the play wasn't opening up and Sanchez re-directed Braylon was great.
