I think the jets acquiring a 4th round pick pretty much gets rid of any interest I had of picking up Marshall. Unless of course someone offered us a 1st for Cotchery or something .
I wouldn't give up cotch for a first, unless it was a top ten 1st. He is like Sanchez's security blanket.
It wont happen anyway. But its pretty much the only viable scenario of us getting Marshall, especially since its incredibly unlikely someone gives us a 1st and 3rd for Braylon. And I think Sanchez has a better chemistry going on with Keller/Braylon than he does cotch.
You are seriously over-exaggerating the bust potential for the draft. Aside from Bob Sanders' and Anthony Gonzalez's injury concerns, where was the last time the Bill Polian fucked up in the first round for the Colts?
According to the very reliable @Adam_Greenbaum, the Jets are internally discussing a trade for WR Brandon Marshall with a minimum number of draft picks involved. Trying to package players. He has sources on that one, but speculates that Cotchery would be going instead of Braylon.
I would absolutely hate this move. Sure he's an amazing talent, but to move a very good receiver who has great chemistry with the QB and has no off field issues for a guy who's one more fuckup away from a long suspension and also needs a big contract would be a mistake IMO.
I honestly wouldn't mind if it was centered around trading Braylon, but trading Cotchery would be a huge mistake, in my opinion. He's a great guy, on and off the field, and has great chemistry. Don't know what the thought process is here.
Brandon Marshall-WR-Broncos - Mar. 14 - 9:52 am et The Jets are having internal discussions regarding restricted free agent Brandon Marshall, sources tell Mike Lombardi of the National Football Post. Lombardi says the Jets would "love to put together a package of players that might entice the Broncos and still keep their first-round pick." It's hard to see the Broncos giving up their petulant star without getting a top pick, but Marshall would be a nice fit opposite Braylon Edwards. This news also sheds some light on what the Jets think of Jerricho Cotchery. Source: National Football Post
We would have an absolutely filthy pair of wideouts... ...to go with severe locker room dissent, the eternal threat of a giant douchebag in NYC, and absolute cap hell if a salary cap ever returned. I hate this news.
Not to mention we'd also lose draft pick(s), even if it didn't include a #1. I mean Tanny is a cap genius, but at some point he can't keep adding super stars.
That is my bigger concern. We will not keep both Edwards and Marshall. You could not under a cap situation. I hope this is all crap and no truth to it at this point. I would love Marshall on the Jets talent wise and would include Edwards in a package for him, but not Cotch.
If all these falls through wit LT and Marshall, we have a Super Bowl team on our hands. This is goin be crazy ride next year.
I agree. If you're going to do it, why not do Edwards for Marshall. Shit you may be able to make a straight up trade.
I agree. I can't see the organization being unhappy with Cotch. I mean he's been a great contributor, team player, plus he seems to have chemistry with Sanchez. Having said that, everyone knows that the Broncos have to trade him, so you might get a ridiculous deal.
