I hope Pettine and Rex trim the D's fat next year. Anyone who is doesn't make plays in this scheme or isn't getting it needs to go. That includes: Gholston, Rhodes, and Thomas.
This D has been the most disappointing thing lately totally reliant on one gut KJ to stop the run and cannot stop teams on 3rd down
The difference is we ALL know that Bryan Thomas is nothing above average, never has, never will. We were all fooled in 2007, and now Kerry Rhodes is a sheep in wolf's clothing....... I expect to see him on Dancing with the Tards, he already shows up late dancing around the pile. It's a shame, because I was a fan........ dude hasn't impressed since.
Rex should bench him for Eric Smith till he mans up. Smith might be a bonehead but at least he doesn't play like a pansy.
This. I always thought Kerry was one of the biggest pussys at the safety position. He never hits anyone hard...I mean for a player at the safety position you never get a play where Kerry just smacks a receiver over the middle. I always hated that about him as those are opportunities to force a fumble etc. What he lacked in hard hitting he made up for by making a few sacks, and his strongest suit plays on the ball (Interceptions, tipped passes/broken up passes) Now he is pretty much useless though...
Dang Rhodes I thought you were going to be better than Ed reed in Rex Ryan scheme, guess you can't teach instnicts. Dang you are breaking my heart I brag about how you are an elite safety, bur year after you prove otherwise.
I hate how he showboats after making a routine play. He started doing some dance in front of the camera when Leonhard knocked a ball away and Rhodes got a few fingers on the ball.
All I care about this offseason....is shoring up our Dline....meaning....I want to see Terrance "Mount" Cody in the green/white. If that happens...I will buy Cody's jersey the next day.
speaking of safeties.....I think it speaks volumes that Leonhard outplayed Rhodes with a cast on his thumb. I'm liking Jim Leonhard's offseason signing more and more....than Bart Scott's....as the season progresses.
I can't believe I ever thought he was good. I would trade the entire defense, sans Revis, for Troy Polamalu.
He was awesome. That '98 defense was elite. If we needed a stop or the ball back those guys would go out there and get it.
I heard Banks with Joe and Evan talking about Rhoades and Banks said that Rhoades is a hollywood guy who is accepting just being a good NFL player. Banks said you have to want to be great and Rhoades just doesn't want it. He's satisfied with where he's at. He's got the skills to be a great player but doesn't have the heart.
I completely agree with this. Don't get me wrong: I think Eric Smith playing his heart out would not play as well as Kerry has been. But a message needs to be sent. If we lose a game because of this move, but Rhodes gets the message and prepares like a professional for the rest of his career, it's a good move.
lol this sums it up. i was a huge kerry rhodes fan. he is talented, has the size and can make plays...when he cares this year he's been invisible minus a few nice pass deflections. actually, he hasn't been invisible now that i think about it. you always see him on the play when the jets fuck up
I've been a huge Rhodes supporter here on this site and I blamed his less then stellar season last year on Mangini but he hasnt done much this year. He doesnt have the impact on a game that he use to have in 05, 06, and 07. Now with that said am I saying he is a bad player? No. I think with the way he is playing right now he is a good safety. But he's not great and isnt playing like one of the better safeties in the league. I use to think that after Polamolu and Reed he was on that next level but he isnt. Hopefully we will see the old Kerry Rhodes come back to us soon.
