Keller is going to take a back seat to Santonio Holmes. After those 4 games, Keller was in fact gameplanned for by opposing DCs. They took him away because they knew he was Sanchez favorite target. Later in the year Keller became a factor again.
Keller isn't this unstoppable force tgg makes him out to be. Did adding Holmes take away some looks? Sure, so did not being open.
And Keller's hands aren't scrutinized enough. He drops passes that hit him in the numbers. There is zero excuse for that.
How could you forget the 2005 playoff win against the Patriots? It had everything: 5 New England turnovers, a backbreaking interception by Brady, and Pats fans whining that the refs rigged the game against them. One of my favorite non-Jets related playoff games ever.
The funny thing is that Braylon Edwards is the only receiver that I can't remember dropping passes for us last year.
At 7.8 under we should be bringing one of the receivers back with some money to spare. Get Harris' deal done and we could have another 5 or 6 under the cap which puts us in play for the other receiver. Restructure Sanchez and cut Bryan Thomas puts us in play for Cromartie or even Aso depending on how the deal is structured/the alleged pay cut Aso is willign to take. Not bad.
Man, I know Holmes had some big game winning catches, but Braylon was f'ing clutch last year, too...Holmes dropped some big catches in big spots, and it seems like everyone is forgetting that. I think either one coming back, signing a quality #2 WR and sanchez taking a decent step forward and the offense won't miss a beat.
i think we need both (holmes & edwards) - they fed off of each other - if the safety rolled towards holmes, edwards would make the play on the outside. they worked well together and were able for the most part to take advantage of what the defense gave them.
I think with everything going on the CS / FO is absolutely trying to bring back Holmes and Braylon and see what Cro's value is, but he's not a high priority, we'll find someone to compete with Kyle Wilson and add some depth to the roster
That's where Keller needs to get better. When he's being game planned against he needs to find a way to get open. There isn't a backer that can cover him but he gets swallowed up easily when he's bracketed.
I agree. People love Keller, and truth be told, he sucks. He runs mediocre routes, has mediocre hands, doesn't block, and is pretty replaceable. If the Jets need money, they can start by cutting him. As for Tone, I would love to have him back, but not at an insane number. As I have been saying, if it comes down to getting another great defensive player, or spending money on a wr who is not one of the 10 best in the NFL, I am not spending money on Tone (or Braylon) if I am Tanny.
Santana Moss to the Redskins, Jets have obviously now gained more leverage reguarding Holmes. Schefter almost had me when he was like "The Redskins have reached an agreement with Wide Reciever San...tana Moss.
He has more potential to be great than that other retarded opinion, but yeah he is somewhere toward the upper middle.
