I think you're right, except we also need to sign Sidney Rice and Plaxico Burress.

Why does that matter if you get a huge ass contract and money is your top priority?

Might be his top priority, but I doubt its his only one. He wants to win and put up big numbers too. I doubt he'd be happy Haynesworthing it for the next few years.

I have no idea; I don't know the man.

An extra $5 million when you're going to have a very short career would be very tempting.

I think there's a very good chance he could get paid big-time and stay with the Jets. It doesn't have to be one or the other. Sure he'd get more in Washington, but why not have your cake and eat it too? He's going to get FU money no matter where he is. And who made the rule that once you get a ring you no longer want another?

Let's be fair, he was not clutch all year. those 2 drops 17a mentioned were big and the huge drop he had at Indy in the playoffs could have been big. He was really good last year and I don't think we saw the best of holmes, I'm excited to see what he and Mark can do in the coming years.

He is arguably the "best" WR on the market. He wont be coming back here.

    Rather have Edwards anyway!

If Cro was better at covering the underneath route, I'd be right there with you.

suddenly braylon edwards detractors are SD fans before our playoff upset

    THEYRE TALL AND FAST!!!!!

yeah Matt Jones was a beast wasnt he?

umm yes but can they catch or run block?

    braylon can.

i think everyone knows holmes is the more well rounded reciever. that isnt whats up for debate.

the debate is risk vs reward, value, and system fit

I'm almost convinced that Cromartie is as good as gone. He wants to be the #1 corner somewhere (or at least be paid like a #1 corner). Now, as far as Holmes goes, I have a feeling the Jets are going to match pretty much any offer he gets unless it is something ridiculous (which wouldn't surprise me from the Redskins FO). After the Jets spend on Holmes, they will probably let Edwards walk, which leaves a receiving corps consisting of Holmes, Cotchery, and Kerley (assuming that Brad Smith also walks). If this is the scenario that plays out, I say the Jets should make a play for James Jones. He is a talented receiver, albeit with a bit of a case of the dropsies, and would complement the Jets' receivers very well.

As much as I want the jets to resign holmes, edwards, and cromartie; I just don't think it's going to happen. If the jets must pick 2 of the 3, go with edwards and cro. Braylon will probably be cheaper than Santonio, and he's been more consistent.

I think you have to ask which side of an Edwards v Cromartie or Holmes v Cromartie match up you'd want to be; if you think the receivers beat the corner to the same ball more often than the corner wins, you have to put the money into the receivers. On that basis I have been convinced that Cromartie is the more easily replaced, and that having used our first round on a corner last year we have to make him shine. The money needs to go to the wideouts.
