Where do you all come up with this stuff? You don't think Ryan would bench him if he fails to plays poorly? I do. If he sucks I would certainly hope that Ryan gives him the hook. Waiting for him to get injured seems like a stupid way to make personnel decisions.
I like Ainge. He is a tall QB with a strong arm and seems to be improved from last year. His little offseason troubles seem behind him.
The Clemens hate around here is amazing. Ainge > Clemens ? Are you kidding?? Ainge has looked great ? Yea - with the 3's ! He ain't ready for prime time just yet.
lets say the jets manage to trade clemens for a wr. who would they bring in to be the mentor for sanchez? anyone think vinny would be up for that role again?
We have Matt Kavanaugh as the QB coach on staff who can double as a mentor. Isn't that part of the job description anyway?? Use Vinny as a mentor? Perhaps someone more recent to the game.
I've seen more out of Ainge than Clemens. Clemens is very talented, is smart...but he lacks a "Feel" for the game. Ainge doesn't have the same physical skills...but he knows how to move a football team down the field.
Tampa Bay is looking to trade one of their backups. Supposedly there are a lot of teams looking to trade for a backup QB now (all according to ESPN so take it for what it's worth). I wouldn't be surprised if the Jets aren't trying to trade Clemens as well knowing he will leave at the end of the year.
I saw that last night. TB is really unhappy with all 3 of their QB candidates so all of them are on the block. Man, that's gotta be a blow to the ego of those 3 guys. Maybe Tanny finally has gotten religion when it comes to stockpiling DP's and might just use KC for that purpose. It would be a nice change from letting guys simply hit the bricks.
No one is going to trade a decent wide receiver for Kellen Clemens, and the Jets already have enough second level receivers that they don't need anyone's garbage. Ainge has looked exceptional during this pre-season. Clemens has looked better than his track record -- maybe a little better than that. I would much rather have Ainge as the number two on this team, because I think he protects the ball better and I don't think he gets rattled as easily as Clemens. Maybe Ainge will do enough in the next game to earn the 2. I think Rex is going to give him a shot to earn it. I think Kellen in truth is a number three, and I think that's what his future in the NFL is, if he has a future in the NFL. I think he does. He's looked alright this pre-season.
