It's not a bad discussion I guess, but aside from the fact that there are way too many Gholston threads, I think the VG discussion has far more to do with the success of the Jets in the first 4 weeks of the season than backup QB. Our pass rush is crucial to how the defense works.
Yeah, but speculating on the future of Clemens and Ainge is more fun.. Talking bout Da Ghost is depressing.
Agree.....and add 5) Because you WANT your backup to be as close to your starter as you can manage in capability - without having to pay too much for it - because nobody is looking to steal him away and make him a starter. Clemens is the perfect NFL backup QB.
I like Clemens pocket awareness this year, he still is shitty overall but thats one area he is better. I really think Ainge is terrible so really its like picking Cancer of the intenstine to cancer of the liver
I'm pretty sure that if you lose a closely-contested starting quarterback battle, you become the number 2 QB. The coaching staff doesn't just bump you down to #3 as an added "fuck you."
The debate shouldn't be whose better, but rather can we rely on Ainge IF he had to be the #2? I've liked what I've seen so far in the preseason.
Probably going to be nasty this weekend. I wonder if they keep Sanchez in as long as they have planned. Maybe we get a good look at Clemens and Ainge with some starters.
I think Clemens may be gone next year. Judging by the skills Ainge seems to have i think we can get by with him as a #2. I mean NE had Cassel who hadn't even played since HS as #2, so why not?
Considering that Clemens has played better than Sanchez, I would have to take Clemens as the No.2 QB at this point.
I don't think Clemens looked horrible but he didn't look like he's making any progress towards being a starting QB. Sanchez, with all of his mistakes, has still accomplished more and shown the right attitude.
IMO it's a big mistake making Sanchez the starter. I can't see the Jets winning more than 7 or 8 games with Sanchez. If he gets off to a bad start and has to be replaced with Clemens Sanchez's confidence takes a major hit. He may never recover from being pulled. If Clemens starts and is a bust then bring in the kid. If Clemens has a fairly good season then he can be traded down the road. This give Sanchez more time to learn the system and a better chance of being successful!
