LOCK! ====== and then he homered to lead off the 7th Every inning in Phillies-Reds has featured at least one run by one and only one team. It's 8-5 Phillies in the 7th. The only inning they didn't score in was the 5th, and the Reds got 5 in the 5th.
Colon and the ChiSox bullpen got absolutely hammered this afternoon. Twins up 20-0 in the 8th. Both teams have pulled their big bats. Mauer, Morneau, Kubel, Thome, Konerko, and Dye are out of the game. Joe Mauer is ridiculous. Grand slam, RBI double, and sacrifice fly. He ended up 3/4 with 2 runs and 6 RBI. Meanwhile, Nick Blackburn went 7 shutout innings, allowing 4 hits.
Wilson was supposed to close out a 2-1 lead against the Padres, but walked two and now hit David Eckstein with the bases loaded. 2-2 and now the Padres have a chance to win it. It went from 1-2 with 2 outs to Giles. Three balls to Giles, hit Eckstein, and now allows a game winning hit. That's pretty fail.
Angels and Dodgers tied at 4, going into extra innings. The Dodgers had 2nd and 3rd for James Loney, the second most difficult batter to strike out this year, and he struck out.
Dodgers win with a walkoff walk. 5 man infield utilized again, this time with the Angels using Torii Hunter.
Streak for the Cash listed four MLB games that were 2:15 and earlier. Yankees-Phillies (1:05) Rays-Marlins (1:10) Mets-Red Sox (1:35) Cardinals-Royals (2:15) the last game ended well before the first three. Royals won, 3-2. Meanwhile, the Florida matchup is in the 10th, tied at 4. Yankees-Phillies is in the 11th, tied at 3. Mets-Red Sox, due to a rain delay and a lot of runs, is 12-5 in the 8th.
Bad news for the Phillies, as Brad Lidge has lost it yet again. Looks like an Astros redux. zero blown saves last year, four this year. Lidge has a 9.15 ERA. His blown save today actually lowered his ERA a little.
wow, Keppinger doubled and then got gunned down by the catcher during the ensuing AB. Rodriguez missed the bunt, and then Hernandez threw a laser to second to catch Keppinger off the bag.
St. Louis and Milwaukee have combined for four hits and zero runs. Game now in the bottom of the 10th inning.
Unreal what Mauer is doing. They lost 6-5, anyway. Down 6-3 going into the bottom of the 9th. Jonathan Papelbon pitching: Jason Kubel: Strike looking, Kubel singled to right. Michael Cuddyer: Strike looking, Strike swinging, Cuddyer struck out looking. Brian Buscher: Ball, Strike swinging, Buscher flied out to center Joe Mauer hit for Mike Redmond. Joe Mauer: Strike looking, Kubel to second on fielder's indifference, Ball, Foul, Mauer homered to right, Kubel scored. Delmon Young: Ball, Young flied out to right. End of Inning (2 Runs, 2 Hits, 0 Errors) http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/gamecenter/recap/MLB_20090525_STL@MIL MILWAUKEE -- Bill Hall snapped a 1-for-28 slump with a two-out, RBI single in the 10th inning to lift the Milwaukee Brewers to a 1-0 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday. Cardinals ace Chris Carpenter took a perfect game into the seventh inning, and the Brewers' Yovani Gallardo carried a no-hitter into the sixth before each finished allowing just two hits over eight innings. Milwaukee closer Trevor Hoffman pitched a perfect ninth and Carlos Villanueva (2-3) the 10th for the Brewers, setting up Hall's dramatics off St. Louis' Kyle McClellan (2-2). ============ Milwaukee now a game up on St. Louis for the lead in the NL Central. Chris Carpenter: 4 starts, 23 IP, 10 H, 0 ER, 4 walks, 23 strikeouts
Giambalco is a moron. He started going to first, thinking it was ball 4. It wasn't, and because Giambalco was moving, Holliday started jogging to second and got caught in a rundown. Holliday was on his way back to first when he saw Giambalco coming towards him. Caught in a rundown. It was actually a 3-2 count. Giambalco walked on the next pitch, but his stupidity cost the A's a baserunner. Hitting coach ejected earlier.
I'm listening to A's-Mariners. Kurt Suzuki struck out swinging on a wild pitch, but he didn't take first. Suzuki struck out swinging, Buck scored, Crosby to third, Kennedy to second on wild pitch. I guess he didn't run it out? Makes no sense.
David Price was finally brought up to make his 2009 debut on Memorial Day. He's struggling in the first inning in Cleveland. He walked Carroll and allowed a double to Sizemore. Now he's facing Victor Martinez.
