Yankees-Tigers could set a high for runs scored in a game. 11-8 Yankees in the 4th. The absolutely putrid Ponson against the unpredictable Verlander, who was very off today.
13-9 Yankees in the 6th. Headed for the score of Rangers-Red Sox? A-Rod having a monster game. Already 3 hits and 4 RBI. Pudge 2/4 against his former team.
Daily recap: Rangers -187 lose 12-6 to the Mariners. Always a good underdog pick when the line is so big and a Matt Harrison team is the favorite. Tigers -142 lose 13-9 to Yankees. Phillies -153 lose 7-4 to the Nationals* Cubs -124 get shut out 3-0 by Oswalt and the Astros *- As mentioned earlier, they keep pulling off upsets.
Youkilis a late scratch due to back spasms. The lineup: Ellsbury Lowrie Ortiz Pedroia Kotsay Varitek Bailey Cora Crisp I'm wishing I hadn't picked the Red Sox tonight.
that's nothing. I was watching a game earlier and they mentioned that the Braves were up 10-3 going into the bottom of the 4th. An inning later (bottom 5th), they were down 13-10. Now 16-14 Braves in the 9th. Figures Pedroia was the only one to go deep in that game. Liz was a great guy to tee off on. He gives up more homers than anyone.
Nationals shortstop Cristian Guzman was named NL Co-Player of the Week today, sharing the honor with Bronson Arroyo of the Cincinnati Reds. Guzman becomes the third Washington National to share the weekly citation, joining 1B Nick Johnson (June 6, 2005, shared with STL's Albert Pujols) and 3B Ryan Zimmerman (August 5, 2007, shared with ARI's Brandon Webb). Willie Harris won the NL POTW award outright on July 21, 2008. On Thu. vs. LAD, Cristian hit for the cycle for the first time in his career. He also became the first DC-based player to hit for the cycle in the Nation's Capital. Guzman's cycle was the 2nd in the history of the Washington Nationals (Brad Wilkerson, April 6, 2005 at PHI). He was (at the time) just the 3rd player to hit for the cycle this season (ATL's Mark Kotsay and MIN's Carlos Gomez). Cristian's 6 multi-hit efforts on the week helped the Nationals go a perfect 6-0 on the week. Washington swept 3-game series from LAD and ATL.
Cubs -220 lost 9-7 in 11 innings to the Astros after Zambrano left early due to some kind of injury (reminiscent of Sheets a few days ago). That one hurt. Giants -160 lost 6-5 to the Rockies. Lincecum lost to Livan Hernandez! Reds -160 lost 3-2 to the Pirates. Brewers -159 lost 6-5 to the Mets. Marlins -142 lost 16-14 to the Braves. White Sox -127 lost 9-3 to the Indians. (also hurt) D'backs -120 lost 8-2 to Cards.
Youkilis out again this afternoon, and Pedroia is once again batting cleanup. He's like 5'7 175 14 pitchers used and 36 hits in yesterday's Braves-Marlins game.
Pedroia only 3/4 with 2 runs and 1 RBI today, as the Sox come back after being down 4-0 to win 5-4. You need to get over your anti-short cleanup hitter bias.
well, 2 games with Pedroia batting cleanup, 2 home runs, 6/9, and 6 RBI. I think the Red Sox will take it. The point is, Pedroia was going to rake no matter where they put him. He's the hottest hitter in baseball. No contest. If I was managing, I would have left him 2nd in the lineup. I guess I look kinda silly now that he hit a homer in each game, though.
Rockies -250 lost 9-2 to the Giants. Reds -210 lost 6-5 to the Pirates. This was a shocker to me (home with Volquez against Ohlendorf). I almost took them for Survivor. I almost took Colorado too, and they lost. I ended up taking Boston, and they were very close to losing. Cubs -235 lost 4-0 to the Astros. Holy smokes! All the heavy favorites except Boston and the Dodgers lose, and Boston was very, very lucky to come away with a win. Phillies -154 lost 9-7 to the Nationals, who keep going. Brewers -124 lost 9-2 to the Mets. Mariners -125 lost 1-0 (!!!!!!!) to the Rangers. Over/under was 11, if you're curious. Cardinals -114 lost 4-3 to the D-Backs.
someone took all underdogs on Wednesday and made a nice bit of cash. http://forum.sbrforum.com/baseball-...ry-underdog-tonight-98194-p3.html#post1007741
Biggest chalk of the night lost. Brewers -260 lost 5-2 to the Padres. There goes a 7 game Survivor streak. No other heavy favorites, and thus no other big upsets. Twins -113 lost 9-0 to the Blue Jays. Inconsequential. Jessie Litsch did throw a 4 hitter, though. That's pretty damn good. Was a tough day for Survivor due to the lack of games. Luckily, my hit streak continued with Vladimir Guerrero and I started a homer streak by picking Nate McLouth against BP pitcher Josh Fogg.
