They do move up and down the draft board despite not playing any games I wish someone would do research on this. The players that look like 1st rounders in December and get drafted much later in April, how did their careers turn out? Same for the late risers I think we'd see that they had it more right in december but IDK
I hope so, depending on how measurements, combine, etc, goes top 3 OTs might go in single digits, like during 2022 draft. Last year top 3 went top 11, and 4th one (whom Jets didn't rate apparently) #14. Depending how things shake out, we may be able to get Alt (pipe dream?), or we may not even get top 4 prospect. Somehow the feeling I have is the later one is more realistic than the former...
Heard talk radio yesterday comparing Trevor Lawrence to Daniel Jones....might turn out there were NO good QBs coming out of the 'historic' draft.
You're probably right. The combine tends to inflate the stock of the more athletic players and deflate the stock of those that don't test as well. All about finding that balance between production and testing numbers for me.
The good thing to remember is that even if we don't get Alt or Olu, the OT class is very, very deep. There's 6-7 guys that are legit 1st round talents at OT this year. We're gonna be able to find an upgrade at OT, wherever we end up in the 1st round IMO.
The combine should basically be viewed as extra credit. If a guy you already like tests great, that's awesome, but it shouldn't significantly elevate a guy you weren't as high on before.
So far from I have seen, yes there are bunch of guys who could be considered late 1st/2nd, but as far as blue chip, I see Alt, drop off, then Olu, drop off, then Fuaga, drop off, maybe JC Latham, bigger drop off, bunch of late 1st/early second. This is of course subject to change as I watch more and pre-draft process goes on, I am not even sure how old some of these guys are as age does make a a difference, but this is where I am at so far. I would like to get top 3 OT this year for sure though, and ideally Alt
