Is all we are saying. Especially considering the NY Jets are an Offense away from being in the playoffs...
Isn't it so painfully obvious? Yet some people care more about what Kevin Mawae and Brandon Moore have to say about the guy when he was an offensive line coach.
"It came to light that he was tired of the negativity emanating from the local media and fans about his job performance, as if that's something new in the NFL, or unique to Buffalo. He felt he was too frequently taken to task about his decision making, and apparently the criticism had begun to upset his wife and children, too." Good luck with the NY media, Dougie!
Thank you for these posts. This is the best written argument as to why this would be a poor hire by the Jets. The idea of having yet another Hackett in town is disturbing.
The poll which was about 2/3 in Marrone's favor is now about even. He interviews today. I hope he gets the job.
The only thing I could say positive about Doug is he did bench his QB week 4 when it was clear he stunk....Rex would never do that....that's it though... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have this guy figured out....he goes to really bad teams (Syracuse, Buffalo, and now Jets) and he improves their record slightly. It's still not good by most standards (7-5, 5-7, 6-10, 9-7) but he acts as if he is the next coming of Bill Walsh. His picture is in the dictionary when you look up mediocrity. He actually referred to himself as St. Doug to the Bills' brass because he thinks what he accomplished in Syracuse was so miraculous.....please NFL teams stop giving us this same garbage and hire some new, innovative, interesting people. I hope the Bills and Jets both do better than this.
So what if he couldn't handle that notorious Buffalo media. He might do better in a small market like New York City.
I'll 4th and Marrone over what I saw last Sunday. And the beatings the Jets took via the Bills this season. And you can have 4th and Rex. I think in that trade off we win.
You're so right....after going 6-10 last year he was heard saying that winning in Syr and Buff is so hard he should be a saint....since then ..he's been jokingly referred to as "Saint Doug" Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
AND we get Paul Hackett 2.0????? This hire just gets better and better. Get it done Woody. I miss those 3rd and 8 draw plays...
First off, I will continue to root for Quinn as my top choice. I also want Gamble as my GM but the brass has not even scheduled an interview with him...so WTF do I know. I'm not sure with all the vennum spewed against Marrone if he would ever have a decent chance to even try to succeed...or will he become another victim of the shit NY media and the fans that buy into that bullshit, Swiftly becoming a casualty before his time like Idzik. I personally do. Want to spare Marrone the ill fate by not coming to the Jets. It has started already and the guy has not even been interviewed. We highlight facts like his offense was dismall, which it was, but fuck, with an offense worst than ours by a land slide he won five more games than Rex. But who cares, apparently he gets no credit for the D but all the blame for the O. Sounds very, very fucken familiar. He gets trashed for quitting on his team, really? We don't even know the facts but who gives a rat ass. Apparently He asked for a reasonable extension for his D coaching staff and got zero support from the ownership more interested in a sale....yeh baby, that is a Woody move. Whomever comes here better know this, the owner will not have your back, the media will definitely not be remotely coherent nor fair, and the fans will overreact to the media BS to any negative short term results in the midst of a rebuilt. Whoever you might be buddy, welcome to NY and God help you with the NYJ. There will be no learning curve whatsoever that will be acceptable. Only win from day one and dethrone the evil Pats.
I voted yes but after reading all this stuff, I am now in the Nay camp. I admit I am not a huge NFL follower. Only Jets for me. After seeing Bills dismantle us twice this year I kind of wanted Marrone but really not so much after reading about him.
