Oh, you poor young lad - you have so much to learn. Keep looking to the past and you'll never move beyond it. A benchmark is never to be based on the worst standard available but rather a launching point to do better. Edited to add: I just noticed that you've shown up this week for the first time in two years and you were a big Gase apologist at that time. Have you no shame?
Yeah, well said. Those reasons are why 2021 can still be a really fun season, even if the team is not in playoff contention in December. If they are? That is just an added bonus.

Great interview! JFM is a great guy. He made me excited for this Jets defense too. Sunday can't get here fast enough!

I'm really impressed with this year's draft class. Time will tell and last year's is not looking good, but this year JD seems to have hit on quite a few guys
Sheldrick Redwine, Quincy Williams, Adrian Colbert, and Del’Shawn Phillips have combined to allow 43% of the #Jets’ opposing receiving yds despite playing only 25% of the Jets’ coverage snaps. And Jets are still a top-10 scoring DExciting to think how good they'd be if healthy— Michael Nania (@Michael_Nania) September 22, 2021
Well there you have it perhaps a Playoff Caliber D and a Sandlot Offense Somethings gotta give and things even out before December

Yep. Then again, that may be a big part of what has brought the D together so quickly. Saleh had said in TC that he couldn't wait to see what happened when this team faced adversity. That said, we still have a ton of talent on our DL, some at LB, some at S, and evidently more than we knew at CB. It's funny...just before the season started a few of us thought that it might be the offense that had to carry the D this year, and it still could be, but at least this past week, it was the D that carried the offense. Hopefully, Zach, LaFleur and the offense can all get together on the same page, put it together and play as well as the D did this past Sunday. If so, we could have our first win of the season.
I know it's too soon and all and I know we don't want to finish at the top of the draft but I can't help but daydream of the idea of Carl Lawson coming back and then the Jets drafting Thibodeaux... that rotation with Huff and JFM would be insane. Thibodeaux reminds me of the way Von Miller jumped off the screen in school, man among boys.

God damn Sheldon Rankins pic.twitter.com/vGV45fQ5Mb— Joe Blewett (@Joerb31) September 28, 2021 Add a DE in the draft, have Q. Williams fully healthy, bring back Rankins, have Carl Lawson and JFM fully healthy, and watch them beast/feast next season.
D seems to be really missing joyner and the 2 davis's We were thin at Lber. losing davis and cashman really hurt there. Williams has been good against the run though and mosley is flying around everywhere
