It'd be a lot easier to sit Zack if we still had Sam and Sam took us to the playoffs last year, kinda like Alex Smith did for the Chefs.

If Sam took us to the playoffs last year we wouldn't have needed to draft Wilson

Come on man, think these things through ;)

Or if we had a vet who knows LaFleur's system.

Well, the Chiefs made the POs and they still traded up for their FQB.

    Oh, come on man ffs.

What age was Sam and what age was Smith?

If Sam made the playoffs at 22yo you don't think this would be the FQB material we were looking for all along.

It is an improvement, but Joe has the worst surrounding cast around his franchise qb in the afc east Hopefully we can add major playmakers with our picks next yr. I do not understand why we are throwing Zack into the fire right away. He is coming from BYU,after 1 good yr We are not supposed to be good this yr in a division with 3 very good teams. How can we not have a Vet to start the season, teach Wilson and ease him into the starting role. The guy should have been in the building before we drafted Wilson, and walk Zack through the role of being a nfl qb. . Belly kills rookie qbs , and he has the talent coming back from covid and free agency to keep this up/ The fins added some great players to a top ten defense and the bills added some great de talent to a great team. Why expose Zach to this

Please, let me speak for the bird. A seed caught in his beak or something. The correct answer to that question would be a very strong yes.

I hate to tell you this, Ken, but there was no story. It was a kid's game of telephone which changed the message from Edwards as it went through Glaser (why does anyone care when a nobody Tweets something?) and NC to this message board. Waiting to see what happens on the field is reality, not "downer stuff."

Because that is the life of modern news stories, shit though it may be, success starved fans will latch onto feel good stories and we my friend are the very definition of success starved.

I'd rather be optimistic right now because if he does flop it wouldn't be a huge shock and we will just carry on as we were but this way I give myself a few months off from being a miserable jets fan with fuck all too cheer about :D it isn't the same as when Gase took over we knew he was a bust from the off.

Currently there are signs to be optimistic again.

Plenty of time to be miserable after September lol

    Worst surrounding cast?

This is probably the best WR Corp we have had for years and years, the OL is locked down form centre to the left, I'd say the right needs work.

The running backs can only be a major lift compared to what we have had.

What part of this surrounding cast is the worst?

I am not in disagreement about sitting him, as I think we should have got a vet Beathard/Mullen who know this system.

I can only presume they think he can handle it from the off, plenty have managed it in the past.

And until we see results on the field we can react to the signs as they arise. I'm fine staying realistic and ignoring those things that people report that don't actually happen.

That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. You said "we." Who is we? Who are you to tell us that we must wait until we see results on the field and then, ONLY then can we give our grand opinions. Seriously?

I'm beginning to really figure you out. I bet you were absolutely giddy when we drafted Sam Darnold. I'm willing to bet you came here back then before, during, and after the draft telling everyone how excited you are to see Sam Darnold play for the NY Jets.

This is why you are pulling the wait and see schtick now. You blew it with Darnold!!!! Admit it!!!!

It's ok, we all make mistakes with players.

Indeed but the reverse of this is also true, until we see results on the field there is no need to be a fully paid up doomsday member, we might actually be good for a change.

    Enjoy.

It is well within your right to be pessimistic, especially at your advanced age. No worries!

You could not be more wrong. What a surprise - not. You have nothing at all figured out. When Darnold was drafted, I shrugged and said let's wait and see. We waited, we saw. All that excitement and exuberance that others wasted on Darnold had no affect on me.

Do you comprehend anything at all that you read? I didn't tell anyone they must wait, but I did say we all can. If you don't understand the difference between "can" and "must" I can't help you.

You are the one who is constantly telling people what they should think and do, but I guess that's okay because you're special. Carry on.

Where's the doomsday? You didn't see that in anything I posted unless you believe the absence of irrational exuberance is doomsday. Wait and see covers both ends of the spectrum and that big fat section in between.

I'll ask you the same thing I asked KOB - where's the pessimism in what I wrote? Be specific.

Can you not read what I put and take it as people in general like you know a conversation rather than an accusation?

Well, who was it you suggested was a "fully paid up doomsday member"? You were responding to me, after all. I just wonder why taking a neutral position is equated to taking a negative one.

It is called conversation, If you look at the sentence again and the post I replied to, you can see I started off in agreement 'indeed' and then I added but on the flip side that you don't have to be a paid-up member of the doomsday club, as opposed to a member of the happy-clappy club.

Why do you have to take that as an accusation, it was just flipping your reply around, that is it, simple stuff, nothing malicious, nothing bitchy, nothing meant by it.

    Hence the ending of

    'enjoy'

I'm a busy man today, so let's draw a line under it, I don't want an all-day back and forth on a nothing post. :)
