    This is false.

Douglas spent a lot of money resigning players on the roster and building the foundation through the draft before signing free agents as the final pieces. Philadelphia didn't have super bowl winning talent due to one offseason of free agent moves. They built a strong core through the draft and through existing talent that was left over from Chip Kelly.

Brown is a 4x pro bowler including 2017. He came into the league 2 years after D'Brick (who's been out of the league for 4 years) so its understandable his play isn't what it was when he was younger but still he only had 2 holding penalties against him last year and 1 in 2018. I don't have access to PFF full stats but it sure doesn't look like he was a problem on their OL and it make sense why Fant couldn't crack the lineup.

Chris Long, led the team in QB hits. LeGarrette Blount, their leading rusher. Alshon Jefferey, they leading receiver. Nigel Bradham, their leading tackler.

What do they all have in common?

Yeah, but @Falco21's point is right: The Jets are not in that position yet. Maybe in the 2021 Free Agency, but they have a lot to build before adding pieces like that.

Some people will think that's a jest but it's probably true.

They didn’t have a QB that you had to either move on from or give a huge contract to in two years. Douglas can’t take his sweet ass time in certain areas, OL being one of them.

The Jets have until 2023 to lock Sam up. They actually have until 2024 but then they are in the franchise tag arena and it moves leverage towards Sam to wait that long.

I'd much rather they got the build right on the OL than panicked now and had the OL in shaky shape at exactly the point they have to commit to him. He after all is going to have the biggest say in whether he stays in NY or not. Having things look great on the OL in 2022 and 2023 means a lot more than artificially fixing things now.

Fixing it now is equally as important. Sam is not going to develop if he’s constantly under pressure the way he was last season and while being forced to run Gase’s dogshit offense.

Some things cannot be done right overnight. I'm sure having the best line that is reasonably acquirable is on both Douglas and Gases minds at this point.

None of the contracts we saw given out today to the top OL were reasonable. They were all attempts to hold a line together or fix one overnight at a major cost to the cap moving forward.

The only move that happened today that strikes me as funny was the Pats tagging Thuney. That was way out of line with what Belichik was likely to see as reasonable. Then I realized that unless Thuney signs his tag the Pats can rescind it at any time. So Belichik in the driver's seat again with sole negotiating rights to Thuney up and until the point he decides to rescind the tag and go another way - punishing Thuney for not playing ball with him.

It'll be interesting to see if Thuney chooses to sign the tender quickly or if he maintains his right to seek a new contract at market value into the summer.

Something I haven't seen brought up here today is we should be about to get an OT at 11 now. The browns hopefully won't take one now.

Howie Roseman built that roster not Douglas.
Douglas was hired as director of player personnel in May of 2016. He was only there for the 2017 off season in regards to having any input on that roster.
The starters from their super bowl year were predominantly FAs, not drafted players.

Eagles added those pices over a few seasons not 1. More than half the starters were not drafted by the Eagles

    random thoughts;

i know little about Fant but he's exactly the head scratcher I was hoping for. Glad we avoided overpaying marquis players

last OL we got from Seattle (Carpenter) played reasonably well for us

good age and athlete so hoping he continues to grow/ascend; not buying high, at the top where player is all downhill

Key is financial discipline. No one is saying JD didn't like whatever number of guys being mentioned on this thread. Issue is price. We've been knuckleheads in that department

We have guys (leaving unnamed) on this forum who screamed for Bell; having seen how that played out they don't even own that and fess up and think we should pay like drunken sailors again and wonder why we always suck

financial discipline!!! get guys who can outperform their contracts. that's more important than PFF or whatever advanced analytics. It's performance/dollar!!

They might, they signed their RT but LT was also a need for them. Mayfield had no time last season, they got him another weapon today. They would be smart to protect him.

I don’t see Diggs fitting in there. Hes an excellent player so he will probably put up numbers short term but yeah, his personality is a bad fit for that team.

I think he’s too soft in general for Buffalo and I’ve said it before but Allen is a phony guy, maybe the others on the roster aren’t gonna call him out on it but Diggs will. It could be cancerous to that room
