Probably the craziest game I can remember in recent memory. And of course it had to end on an error.

And yeah the O's are doing unprecedented things. Usually if you have a negative run differential, you won't have this good of a winning records. And constantly winning in extra innings too. It's ridiculous. Statistically it's supposed to end, but it hasn't for the Os

The best thing about this race is that Clueless Joe the 2nd can't rest the entire team like he usually does to make sure they couldn't hit a 40mph slow pitch softball when the playoffs start..for once he has no choice but to keep them sharp.

O'l Trusty Andy goes 6 scorless. What a studhorse, hasn't given up a run yet
in his first 11 innings back. I think this guy could maybe pitch another 2 seasons
if he could stay healthy. He's fucking great, i hope i don't throw a whammy on him with all this adulation, but i can't ignore a champion.
Orioles split their doubleheader so the yanks gain a half game, anything helps.
4 homeruns tonight in minnesota, not a long ball park, Ichiro is scorching right now,
Ibanez and Chavez have hit some big homeruns this year, if these guys can get more consistent with hitting with men on base, Andy finish out strong, CC throw like the night before, Cano and Arod start hitting again, Tex making it back , anything can happen.
Staying healthy is so difficult, there was a point this season when the Yanks were definitely playing the best ball for a while and then that patch game that I couldn't believe, and I'm ayankee fan of 47 years, had season tix from '75 in shea while they were redoing yankee stadium through '87, or maybe '88. then i moved out here.
I'd never seen the yankees blow such a large divisional lead in my entire life, and in the existence of the team for godsakes. They're still the yanks, and although they live too much on the long ball, it's great to watch, and if they fix up the situational hitting and pitch better like they all are now, hughes too, this is the right time to galvanize right before the playoffs with 10 or 11 games left now.
I do not apologize for anything, i do love the new york yankees, and i'm feeling alot better about this team than 9 days ago. I feel a good palyoff run coming, i just do.
This is my epiphany homer post of the century.
Stay healthy and the rest will work out. Way to throw tonight Andy!!! yeah baby yeah!!

Just came in to say Girardi is an overmanaging fool. No reason to take Hughes out.

Yeah. Hughes was pitching decent, then Girardi pulled him and the bullpen blew the lead.

tough loss. if the yanks had won they could have went 5-3 and the O's would have had to go 7-0 the rest of the way.

Dickerson has made pretty well of his time this season, he cranked one today
    that was the clincher.
It's nice seeing CC throw two strong 8 inning jobs in a row. If Granderson , Cano and Arod start to hit, can you imagine the possibilities. For Gardner to be effective i think he would need alot more time than there is left in the season to get grooving, but who knows, i know i don't know, but he could possibly be a factor, we'll see.
I like how the starting pitching has come around as of late, and not an inning too soon, it wasn't looking good for a while. The National league is pretty much set unless a collapse happens with around 7 games left, but the American league is still wide open.
Yanks have a 2 game lead now, but the O's can get a half game back tonight if they win. The Sox have managed to blow their lead and are tied with detroit, and the Angels and even the Rays are still on the fringes and could pull something off. Big win for Oakland last night over texas to offset the Angels win. I'd much rather see the A's than the headache Angels who have always been a pain in the yankees ass, and that's a tip of the hat to mike Scioscia ho is such a great manager, especially in comparison to our boy Joey G.
Anyway, A-s Rangers game is on in about a half hour, and i will be watching it.
Match up wise, I think the Yankees can beat any team just as easily as they can be beaten, and even though they blew a ten game lead, at least they are not coasting ino the playoffs and have played many meaningful games in the last two weeks, it's good for them in the end, and everyone panicked except the yankees. the yankee players that is, Joe seems to panic often. I'd like to see him manage one game without all the computer printouts and matchups stats, just to see that you can manage from the gut and win. I know the printouts are a great guide and necessary, but i don't think it's the end all only way to manage.
Nice win today afte that tough one last night, way to go Yanks.

Yankees 1.5 games up (2 less losses, 1 more win)

    NYY--
    Toronto (4 games)
    Boston (3 games)

    BAL--
    Boston (3 games)
    Tampa Bay (3 games)

    I like our chances.

definitely. Tampa keeps winning and Toronto is as bad as any team in the AL.

The Rays are only 2.5 out of a wild card spot.

But by the time Baltimore faces Tampa they will be eliminated so it is left to be seen whether they will care or not.

i'd rather have the yankees having to play hard then coast into the playoffs, then again 1 game lead is of no comfort.

Crazy play just happened. Granderson hit a line drive back to Toronto's pitcher. The pitcher caught the ball in his glove but lost his glove in the air. He ended up catching the glove with the ball inside it for the final out of the inning.

ballsy comeback by the yanks!! 7-5 in the 8th, can they hold on?
they better, the O's have already won.
Down 5-1, and the O's up 5-1 at the 5th inning, it looked like the yanks were gonna
fall out of first. it's still not over by a long shot, but i love the fight
    in the yanks, always have.
