I can't believe I missed this... Many question marks in the rotation make the Pettitte move a necessity... Ivan Nova's spring training numbers Wins 0 Losses 2 ERA 7.82 GS 4 IP 12.2 Hits 16 Runs 12 ER 11 HR 4 BB 1 SO 9 Opponent BA .296 WHIP 1.34
Key number there is innings pitched. With that said, no one should be shocked if Nova is nowhere near as good as he was last season. I predict Hughes will out-pitch him this season.
I usually don't pay attention to spring numbers, but Raul Ibanez bat could not look any slower. He's 40 years old. There is a pretty good chance he's finished. Hope the Yankees are in contact with Johnny Damon.
The only good news about Ibanez is that he's batting against both lefties and righties in the Spring but is expected to be used primarily against righties. Otherwise he's not looking too good.
My biggest concern about Nova is the Home Runs. It's a small sample size, but 3 HR per 9 IP is atrocious.
Pettitte shouldn't even be major-league ready until May so I expect the Yankees to start the year with Nova in the rotation regardless.
Sounds like he is all but through again this year..unless the media is making it sound worse than it actually is.
Im hearing career might be over. Sounds extreme to me. Apparently his ankle bone came right through his fuckin skin. Ouchy mama
"Yankees right-hander Joba Chamberlain underwent surgery Thursday night for an open dislocation in his right ankle, general manager Brian Cashman said Friday morning. An open dislocation is one in which the bone protrudes from the skin. It's conceivable that Chamberlain could miss all of the season as a result."
Yeah, we might not see him ever again. https://www.google.com/search?q=ope...ct=mode&cd=2&ved=0CAkQ_AUoAQ&biw=1024&bih=675
