I disagree w/ Rod Woodson. I think he turned out to be a great S but he was an overrated Corner and spent most of his career at CB. he used to get lit up by the big WRs. A very overrated corner.

It was a travesty he played on ultra talented teams and couldn't get it down when it mattered?

they'll put in Faulk and Bettis before Martin.

We have to wait until maybe 2013.

Another "woe is me- I'm a Jets fan" comment above?

Why would Bettis get in over Martin?

I saw a lot of Bob Hayes he was a sprinter not a great WR. I'm not sure I would put him in.

Rod Woodson was part of the all time team. How could he NOT then make it in.

SB ring. They are identical in everything else. Plus, for 3 RBs to get in in one year is tough.

Maybe he'll get in in 2012. But 2013 the very latest.. anything after that then its bullshit. He's the 4th all time rusher.

Martin has Bettis beat in almost all major statistical categories and Bettis was a backup on that Super Bowl team.

    Martin
    3518 carries, 14101 yards, 4.0 avg, 90 rushing TDs
    484 catches, 3329 yards, 6.9 avg, 10 receiving TDs

    Bettis
    3479 carries, 13662 yards, 3.9 avg, 91 rushing TDs
    200 catches, 1449 yards, 7.2 avg, 3 receiving TDs

Bettis was a 1st team All-Pro only one time (1993) and in two other years he received mention.
Martin was a 1st team All-Pro two times (2001, 2004) and in three other years he received mention.

If Bettis beats out Martin it will be because he started 0 games and had 110 rushing attempts for a Super Bowl winner and because he is more popular by way of playing for a flagship franchise. If that happens, fuck the PFHOF voters.

But that's the way they vote.... it does suck but their system is so flawed its embarrassing.

Knowing them, Curt waits a year or two. And if they bring up the fact that he doesn't break huge runs on a consistent basis it'll be more bullshit from them.

I hope 2012. If Shannon Sharpe didn't get in in his 1st year, its going to be hard for Martin to do it.

And that would be just more b.s.

I once posted the numbers on here somewhere.

Bettis had a 71-yard scamper as a rookie with the Rams and had a 50-yarder with the Steelers in '96. I think that was it for 50+ yarders from him.

Martin had at least three times as many and also had at least two 49-yarders.

There will need to be considerable bias for Bettis to beat out Martin.

some of the writers that vote are not fans of the Jets... namely Peter King, who makes the most noise out of any HOF voter on the planet... it really is more shit on top of Fucked Mountain.

Martin will be a first ballot HOF'er. If the SB thing is a big deal (which I believe it is not, especially for RBs), Martin DID play in one and even scored a TD. The Career Rushing yards record is the biggest one/most important for the NFL and he finished his career in 4th place all-time. It'll be enough to get in on his first attempt.

I hope your correct, but the Logjam that is the HOF voting makes it tough to get in the 1st year.... they need to fix it.

Bob Papa has great idea - Categorize certain nominees.

Contributors (coaches, coordinators, commisioners, owners, etc.) are their own category.

Players are the other, that way a commisioner and a player aren't being compared for one spot, there are two separate spots for them. Which also means the number that is allowed in each year should jump from 7 to 9...

That you're extremely naive if you don't think having a super bowl ring is taken into account when voting for the hall of fame

It's not when the guy won it as a backup running back. Bettis did not play a huge role in that game.

He's been an overrated guy for decades. I knew he was getting in I just don't think he deserved the spot ont he 75th anniversary team or a spot in the Hall.

    congrats on the win yesterday.
