Well part of that reason was because they had the Rev. Tony Dungy as their coach. One of the most overrated in the business. Many forget that Dungy was canned after coaching a talented Tampa Bay team that Gruden immediately led to 3 division titles and a Super Bowl.
This is exactly why Rex is the problem though - he is too loyal to shitty qb's. You can say he had no choice in drafting Geno, but he doesn't have to play Geno. What is Idzik going to do? Say - "if you don't, you're fired?" Rex has to know that by playing Geno, he is getting fired anyway. So, he is the reason teams force the Jets to throw. If Vick isn't the answer, put in Simms. But for fucks sake, try something.
at this point just a fresh pair of eyes will be encouraging. and lets not make harbaugh out to be the next lombardi, he is winning and the 9ers still don't want him. that raises an eyebrow,no?
Sorry if I misunderstood your statement. However, with all due respect, I don't think many are impressed with 50-46 either
Vick came in and did nothing. They see Sims everyday. We don't...AND he was trash in preseason. You don't do things just to do them when you're managing a locker room.
Rex's problem, at least on the defensive side of the ball, was failing to respond to Manning's adjustments in the 2nd half. He has a problem with this in general. You'd think a team with (essentially) 2 defensive coordinators could assign one of them the duties of figuring out how to counter an opponent's adjustments. Otherwise, yes, the D played well except they once again shit the bed when they needed to make a stop. This is something that's been happening since Rex has been the coach and something that Rex is far more responsible for than the defensive game plan (which technically should be Thurman's responsibility--Rex should be running the whole team.)
Which is why you stick with the guy with the most potential to improve with experience and also happens to the least bad.
Vick did nothing because he is basically retired collecting a paycheck. He admitted as much. Quite frankly, Rex should have cut Vick the second he said he was unprepared to play. As for Simms - if he sucks, why is he on this team? As for managing the locker room - I think guys like Mo would rather Rex try something, than keep losing because the offense sucks.
Jets held Denver to 7 points in the second half. The adjustments worked. Even if they had not, we don't really know what adjustments were made and whether they were executed correctly to make those assertions. NFL teams adjust all game and have multiple people in the role you described.
Because we need a 3rd QB and those are rarely good. We need to play him to at least know what we should do with him next summer.
the jets lost. again. for the 5th week in a row. I know everyone gets a trophy in little league now a days but I'm going to let you in on a little secret Barcs. The idea is to WIN not just hang around and keep it close. woooo fucking whoooo! that was a brilliant plan to keep her close there fellas! fuckin A right we only lost by a little!
The team knows what Simms is, since, as you said, they see him every day in practice. So, again, why is he on this team if he can't play in a regular season game? And why did he make the team over a guy you picked in the draft in Tajh Boyd? To me, if you are one of the 52 guys on the team. you should be able to play in the NFL, not simply be there because you can be a 3rd qb. Assuming this is the case, can he possibly be worse than Smith? You are 1-5 anyway, what does it hurt to find out?
Adults are smart enough to think more analytically than simply win=good, loss=bad. Good things can happen during losses and the other way around. Not discussing those things equals boring topics.
I wasn't here back then and I didn't want him. Again I'm a new member. Might have to find a new forum though. Ideally all 53 players are pro bowlers, but every team has guys they never hope to see. QB #3 are those guys.
