It's preseason, so why should we be pleased with the running game? What about the defense? You're using the "It's Preseason" excuse when things go wrong, but at the same time praise the rushing attack and defense even though it's still preseason. The rushing game and defense looked good this preseason because they ARE good. If they're able to play to that level despite it being preseason, why can't we say the same for our passing attack?
Perhaps you have a difficult time reading. I said I expected the passing game to be meh looking (I am not going to quote myself). I am not making any excuses such that nothing in preseason, short of Pace's injury is bothering me. I don't think Sanchez is that good at this point. I have never said he is good and I do not expect him to be. I am saying why panic over expecting him to be Manning because he isn't going to be in his second year. I expect Sanchez to go 15-20 td's to 15-18 int's. I have stated as such months ago. So my expectations for the passing game must be radically different from yours. Again this team is going as far as the defense, special teams and run game take them. There has been 1 sophomore QB to win a Super Bowl. That team was similarly constructed. Being preseason I have seen enough of all the units to be confident in my assessment going into this season....... Is that clear enough or do you need cliff notes?
You can't expect me to remember what you've said about Sanchez in an entirely different thread, especially a post that was written months ago. I understand your points, they're all completely valid, and I agree with you. My only thing is that you attack people for being Same Old Jets Fans for being concerned with his performance in the Preseason. We saw Sanchez post better numbers LAST preseason, even during Game 3 against the Giants. I expected him to show more this month.
You expect me to take the preseason serious and I expect you to know all my posts. So we have high expectations of each other...... The Jets passing game not so much....lol BTW I didn't attack anyone specific (edit: not in this thread at least, I didn't notice Don). I happen to hate the SOJF mentality though.
Which is kinda proving the point that preseason is useless. Sanchez' first pass last season was that bomb to clowney which seemed like a pretty good omen for how his season was gonna go to me. The good omen thing didn't work out that well and he struggled most of the year.
Exactly. The only thing that means anything is when the #1s are on the field and even then that is deceiving since most teams don't want to show what they will be doing in the regular season. However, the Jets defense, even limited by not showing their hand, was dominant. They gave up 10 points to the Giants but 7 of those were setup by Sanchez's interception and even then it took the Giants 3 tries to shove the ball in the endzone. So they really only gave up 3 points. Against Carolina the #1 defense gave up ZERO points. Against the deadskins they gave up 6 points. Bottom line is that they have been impressive.
Pre-season means nothing, yeah I get it. What alarms me is Mr Sanchez's poor decision making when we've been told how much hes improved. Folk misses a PAT, what?! Thats automatic , hows this kid going to fair in clutch situations? Not very well I think. He has demons, and we need another kicker, yes, based on him missing one PAT. He does not have 'it'.
Lose the goggles with this "it's preseason" crap. Sanchez looked like s*** again. Preseason or not, he played in a professional football game with and against professional starters. And looked like s***. Does that mean he's destined to play awful for the rest of his career, or even this season? No. But it sure as hell isn't comforting. I know it's comfy on the wagon, but with the offensive performance we've seen in the past two games (or lack thereof) and no Revis on defense, the SB hype has yet to be justified.
inexcusable to miss a PAT but he was and has been solid on his field goals. You may get your wish about another kicker but not until Folk costs the Jets a game.
He has been money on every kick so far except the one PAT. He has had an impressive leg and has been hitting the ball deep on kick offs if anything iVe been extremely impressed with folk.
Yup. I see. Based on last night, let's sign Revis to whatever he wants - maybe even a little more, let's bench Sanchez and bring in Garcia because this is a win now team, and let's cut Folk even though he is something like 8 for 10 with one miss being from 62 years and the other over 40. I mean hitting the upright on an XP in the preseason means he sucks.
i have no problem with folk. brunell? what the heck is he doing on the active roster? beck, the skins 4th string, looks much better than brunell.hmy::shit:
What's the analysis on that kick? I missed it during the game. Was it a bad snap or someone get their hand up?
I have to agree here. Burnell looks awful. If they want him to mentor Sanchz so badly just hire him as an assistant coach to hold his hand. I think Clemens has looked better than Burnell.
I think the running game, and the run blocking stunk it up. It stunk against CAR too. If you want to hang your hat on 2 or 3 plays where LT broke off a few nice runs, inflating the YPC, go ahead. The O line had no push. Greene got stuffed every single time he tried to run between the tackles. That is against a team that just went to the 3-4, a whole new defensive scheme that lacks a good nose tackle (hayneworth is not what he used to be, and he got man handled). Woody played well last year, but now he is looking like the player that other NFL teams gave up on. I might be inclined to write it off as a vet playing preseason, but his pass blocking has been awful too, and he has to remember he has to protect Sanchez, preseason or not. I only see two bright spots on offense. Slauson seems to be improving. He doesn't have much live NFL experience, and I think he will continue to improve. LT still has some burst, and he's an upgrade over Jones. Other than that... Yes, the D played well, against a second string QB. Hard to get exciteed about that.
