Definitely. We had a chat going on AIM today with some of the regulars, and we were laughing our asses off as we were in our hurry up 2 minute offense. Take your time Chad, take your sweet time!
That was pathetic, but I've even seen Chad do better than that, our first half 2 min drill is an illustration of that
I had a problem with the one in the first half too. It seemed like we were settling for a field goal before the drive even started. The pass selection was very similar to our final drive with the exception of 2 passes to Coles, one of which was on 1st and 20, and another on a fake spike. Doesn't exude a lot of confidence.
Yes much better, but still crappy.... Chad was 15/22 last week... 5 of those were over 10 yards..... It didn't seem as bad, because he didn't throw 39 times, but it was still lousy..... And we barely ever threw the ball on our scoring drives.... He completed 1 pass on our first TD drive... He completed 7 passes on our 2nd TD drive, but only 3 further than 5 yards... He completed ZERO passes on our 3rd quarter FG drive... He completed 3 passes on our final TD drive, but only 1 further than 7 yards.... But last week it was harder to convince people our passing game was lousy, because we won... But it was not too much better than today...
The tabloids are going to have a field day this week. All the controversy they are going to start will have a real impact on what changes take place over the next couple of weeks.
Which is pretty surprising because it's been the same recipe for a while now. It seemed more exaggerated today for some reason, but it's the same exact philosophy.
Yeah I know, but winning blinds people... The passing game was a little better last year, but I bet if you went back and looked at the numbers, they'd only look a little bit better than this year. But we won 10 games, so people can deal with it.... When we go out there, and lose to a team with a terrible defense, missing both of their starting corners, people start to wonder... The INTs also help to open people's eyes.... I think a lot of people get blinded by the stats (namely QB rating and completion %), but when you have 2 game changing INTs, people are forced to take a closer look...
That is the thing though, Penny usually isn't nearly that bad as he was today. His passes also weren't thrown nearly as hard as he usually does. Every single one that I've seen today was a floater. So it isn't so much that his numbers blinded people, but it was just that he was terrible today much worse than usual. He went to the extreme side of the spectrum on dink and dunk today
That's what happens when your QB can't throw to the sideline to get the receivers in a position to get out of bounds! There are so many reasons to be disappointed in what our QB brings to the table. It almost seems like we're reaching for reasons, but not really. Did you see baker stretching every inch of his body to get there?
this loss was depressing in more than one way, Chad ussually comes through for us in these situations but he made the mistake of being reckless... whether he will pay is up to mangini...
I thought that was a great effort and awareness by Baker, but it's sad that it has to come down to that.... In my opinion, if you're throwing the ball shorter than 8-10 yards in a two minute drill, it better be to someone who's open enough to pick up a few YAC yards and get out of bounds.... Buffalo knew the formula, and just sat back, waited for the pass, and wrapped our guys up in bounds...
The idea of running a two minute with Chad is retarded to begin with. It takes him two minutes to wind up his arm to throw the ball 4 yards. Unless that two minute drill starts on the three – our chances for anything becoming of it are nil
The first 2 min drill was poor as well they wasted a ton of time and only got in FG range because of the "fake spike play" and a great catch by Coles. It's interesting to note that Washington was all but absent on offense until they went into their "hurry up mode". He got 1 carry on the first drive then right before the end of the half he was targeted 5 plays in a row, 4 passes and a run. He disappears again until the Jets are down 10 and go into the hurry up, and is thrown to 3 plays in a row again. Then he gets the 2 runs in the red zone, and thrown 2 more passes on the final drive. The only times they moved the ball was when Pennington threw to his WRs, let time and time again in time critical spots he was dumping the ball off to Washington for little or no gain. I can't believe that was the plan for how the "2 minute offense" should look.
It wasn't the Plays because we actually got into FG range so Obviously we moved the ball in 2 mins.! The defense was NOT gonna allow us to go deep so the only thing available was underneath. The 2min failed righ here: Not because of the Play but 2 yards and it took 25 seconds to reset? NY Jets - 1:43 1st-10, NYJ26 1:43 C. Pennington passed to J. Cotchery down the middle for 11 yard gain 1st-10, NYJ37 1:23 C. Pennington passed to L. Washington to the right for 4 yard gain 2nd-6, NYJ41 1:02 C. Pennington passed to L. Coles to the left for 2 yard gain 3rd-4, NYJ43 0:37 C. Pennington passed to L. Washington to the left for 1 yard gain 4th-3, NYJ44 0:27 C. Pennington passed to C. Baker to the right for 6 yard gain 1st-10, 50 0:21 C. Pennington incomplete pass to the left 2nd-10, 50 0:17 C. Pennington passed to J. Cotchery to the right for 11 yard gain 1st-10, BUF39 0:06 T. McGee intercepted C. Pennington for 1 yard
