This is a funny thread... the guy came here to troll and all he gets out of us is sullen agreement. I for one was happy with the trade, I love Coles' chip-on-the-shoulder attitude, and I'm hoping it'll prove a win-win once we get a proper offense around Coles... Santana was awesome this year, no doubt... it kind of surprised me. Guess he just needed a change of scenery.
I would take Coles over Moss at this point on the Jets. What people don't understand is that Coles is a better fit on the Jets, and don't give me that bullshit that he would have done the same on the Jets. I bet he wouldn't even be close to Coles stats this year if he was on the Jets.
See how much you like Moss when he starts pulling hamstrings, dropping passes, running out of bounds on punt returns, and worrying about staying healthy for his next big payday.
I am a big fan of Coles and was a big fan of Moss when he was here, but I was glad when we got Coles back because he is a more complete receiver. I'm sure his performance will be much better once we actually have an offense. I'm glad to see Santana doing well though; he is fun to watch.
The trade worked out well for both teams. We got a WR that fits our offense and you got a star to make your QB look good on those deep routes.
Yes Dawkins is a big hitter for a safety but he's small and if a WR doesn't pop up from a Dawkins hit it's pathetic... his type of big hit is only bell ringing. I'm going to ask an honest question and see what you respond with... who is the biggest linebacker that you clearly remember hitting Santana Moss this year? If he crosses paths with Ray Lewis, Lavar Arrington, Takeo Spikes, Jonathan Vilma, or Zach Thomas someday I hope for you that Moss is still alive in the end.
The surprising thing about Moss wasn't that he had a great season, but that he PLAYE an entire season. The guy blows out hammys getting the mail.
besides takeo and arrington those LB's are smaller. Big LB's you're thinking about the brookings, and pierces
How many Linebackers has Coles been crushed on a hit by? Hell, he might survive that hit anyway, but god forbid the LB steps on his mangled, misaligned big toe, that could be his career. And at this point, really what's the point of saying Coles fits our offense better. What offense is that exactly; whatever that crap that they put on the field last year was? Or is it Schottenheimer's offense, that we really have little idea on what it'll be like? Coles fit Hackett's offense and Chad's weak arm better than Santana did, not every single combination of coordinators and QBs from now on.
moss was a great player i always liked him... he could have been doing just as well here however mmhmmm... the jets did not know how to utilize his talent and they also gave him a qb with no arm as well but het good luck with moss his a great player i just wish we still had him
I like Moss and am happy for him,the skins are a much better fit for him. The thing is,i wonder if Santana can repeat his success next year. This past season was basicly a repeat of the 2003 season,he was hot for 6 games but cooled off for the last 10,getting only 1 100 yard game in the last ten regular season games.Moss is a threat but once teams notice that threat,he can be dealt with.
No problem. I don't know, I just can't bring myself to regret this deal. Moss never would have been this successful here, with our QBs. Then they would have let him walk for nothing when his original contract expired. I'm glad he landed somewhere where his skills could be used properly, because he's obviously got talent, but he would have continued to be wasted here.
