Sorry I thought that the objective of the season was to win a SB. Am I wrong about that? if I am right since the NYJs have not won a SB in 44 years that makes them losers in which one of those 44 years since they never achieved the objective that U play the season for.

Champ, you obviouisly didn't get the memo.. The ideal now is to make the Playoffs by any means necessary. Then perhaps get on some kind of lucky run and make the AFCCG. Once you get there, everything else is insignificant.

Oops yes must have been left out of the loop. Yes for sure we are success when we make the POs in the 1st round then right? Now if we make the AFCCG then we are a super success right? I could just imagine what we would be called by those who adhere to that theory U posted if they actually made the SB & then really/truly won it. I wonder what posters of his ilk will say when the NYGs win another SB before us. Yes I wish him the same heart ache I have had & wonder what he would say after going thru his entire life & never/ever seeing them in or winning a SB

I heard there will be free cocoa at the game tomorrowhich is nice. IMHO U should maybe go to the game and get some free cocoa because a nice cup of cocoa can be better then a SB. Then we will all be in a good mood to cheer for the team and thatIMHO will make them play better. Sorry to say that if you dont like free cocoa then IMHO U R a communist.

You may very well be right, but from what I've seen since I've been a fan (1984) we seem to have some relative success and either fall short or get it completely wrong, but both lead to the same scenario.... we go into rebuild mode (yet again) BUT we never ever do it properly with CS and players constantly being replaced whilst the likes of the Giants have patience.

So who is to blame? Certainly Hess and Woody but a lot of the can be attributed to the now impatient fan base that craves instant success and heads on sticks for failure.

I'm sorry Champ but your constant whining is indicative of everything that is wrong with our fanbase, constantly referencing yesteryear and not being able to find anything positive about the entire organisation from Woody down to the tea lady.

Honestly I feel bad for you on a number of fronts because its apparent on how sad it makes you feel, as much as I LOVE football and particularly the Jets :jets: there is more to life to get upset with, its just a game, thats all it is.

I am mustering up my courage right now to write a heroic email to Woody about it. Champ will be proud of me yet.

I just hope to see one more Championship before I die. Being a Rangers, and Knicks fan is not easing the pain either.

I hate to say it but lets be honest, do any of you see the Jets holding the Super Bowl in the next 10 years? Do any of you see us winning any between Super Bowl 49 and 59. Doubt it. Obviously its impossible but I just dont see it happenning for me until im in my 40s.

The good years have only been tough because they ended with a loss. I count 1998, 2002, 2004, 2009 and 2010 as years in which the Jets gave me good reasons to cheer right up to the end. We made the playoffs in 2001 and 2006 as well, although both of those years wound up on a big sour note with losses to the Raiders and the Pats, teams I hate to lose too.

I understand Champ's frustration at this point but really I've been watching this team for 43 years now and I have never seen them win a Super Bowl and that doesn't stop me from starting most seasons thinking this might finally be the year.

This year was different. This year there was almost no chance at all that the Jets would win a Super Bowl. They were doomed from the start by actions taken in past years and by the wisdom that prevented them from going double-or-nothing again with even less talent than last time.

It was still a better year than many I can recall in days past. The "collapse" was orderly and designed to create better tomorrows from the ashes of today. The Jets showed a capacity to be able to strike suddenly for a win when the other team didn't finish them off in good order. They showed the ability to beat a much better team now and then when everything went just right.

They beat two of the best QB's in the business, guys who were playing with strong teams headed for a playoff spot with no questions asked along the way.

I'm actually thankful this holiday season that the Jets spike year looked so good at times. It gives hope for the future.

Give me 5 positives U see that will be part of a our SB wunning lumber. As I have said over & over & over again on this board when I see a team that rivals the 68 NYJs who had JWN, DM, GS, MS, EB & a top of a line D I will post it over & over again on this board. Until I see that then they are just another bottom feeding team in the NFL. Shock such a FB maven as U can not see what such a garbage organization & team the NYJs are. Keep posting what U posted & U to may never see a SB winning team in your lifetime. Now think about that since always remember the season is played to win the SB which means all the years you did watch them & got nothing in return went to waste

Completely false. Between Ali Sherman who the Giants held unto for way to long and Bill Parcells, a 15 year period the Giants went through 4 HC. After Parcells left in 1990 the Giants hired and fired Ray Handley, Dan Reeves and Jim Fassel. Coughlin was hired in 94 and won a SB in 97.

The Giants have been very willing to move on from coaches who didn't win a SB in under 5 years.

'04 and '07 for Coughlin and I agree. The huge difference between the Giants and Jets is the ownership. Plain and simple. It's very hard to win in any sport when you don't have full alignment between your Ownership, GM, CS and players. The Giants have almost always had this and the Jets not so much.

Parcells left the Giants because he was not allowed to choose his players and wanted more overall control of the team. That undercurrent ran through the organization from the moment Parcells won his first Super Bowl and he chose to leave after his second because it was not resolved in his favor.

The Steelers successful run from the early 90's to the mid 00's featured prominent tension between Bill Cowher and the personnel side of the organization. The Steelers resolved that one in favor of Cowher, won a Super Bowl and then let Cowher go the following year. They won another Super Bowl with the team Cowher put together three years after that.

The idea that everybody is tiered up and singing kumbaya and that's how football organizations win championships is a very skewed perception. Some of the best football teams have had huge divisions between the coach, GM and even the ownership.

The Cowboys of the early 90's won 3 Super Bowls on the back of Jimmy Johnson's considerable ability to find talent. He was not around for the third of those Super Bowls because the Cowboys weren't a happy organization where everybody agreed with each other and sacrificed for the common good.

Try to figure out what the overall structure in Seattle and San Francisco is and who holds the real power in those organizations and you will come away scratching your head. That's one of the reasons those two organizations are as strong as they are right now.
