Time will catch up with him, sure enough. But I can't say based off yesterday that it has, or that when it does how quickly or slowly it will.

But as Colonel Kilgore once said, "Someday this war's gonna end."

Can totally relate to this. I live only a few miles from Gillette Stadium. When the Pats are on one of their playoff runs (which is always) the d-bag causal fans just start popping out of the woodwork. It's to the point where I am so sick of the Patriots that I literally won't watch the SB if they are in it. I am definitely going to enjoy the game 1,000 x more now that they are eliminated. Is it too much to ask that their dynasty just end already??

Yes, if I picked a player I would say Miller. He was unbelievably good.

Well, the dropoff happened pretty quick for Manning. We can only hope that's the case for Brady. I am a little concerned that the kid Garropolo (Brady's backup) is going to turn into a solid NFL QB!

The Broncos D played a fantastic game, and they avoided the big mistake on offense (other than the Hillman lateral). Pats finished the season 3-5. All is not cured from one game against an Andy Reid-led playoff team, the Pats struggled down the stretch of the season, and that came out again yesterday.

I'll revel in it now, although realize they are likely to go 12-4 and win the divisions next season again.

Not to digress here, but after seeing how well the Broncos did against the Pats, and recalling some questionable coaching decisions by the Chiefs, I wonder what Chiefs fans might be thinking in terms of what you are implying from the bolded part.

Of course the Chiefs played in Foxboro, and the Pats have had their troubles in Mile High Stadium.

The thing is he didn't just need a touchdown, they needed a touchdown and a 2 point conversion.
The odds of making that FG are probably double that of making a 2 point conversion.
Denver was doing pretty much nothing on offense since the first quarter, they were no doubt getting the ball back and most likely with pretty good field position after a 3 and out from the 20.

I do understand your point that everything changes, but if you think about it ultimately they had enough time to kick THREE field goals and could have one the game without the TD.

Like I said, I am not second guessing based off what happened, I was coach I was kicking that FG in that situation and felt that way at the time.

At the time, I agreed with the decision to go 4th and 1 there, just because it seemed like their best chance to score a TD. Looking back though on the game as a whole, the argument to kick the FG starts to make a lot more sense. The Broncos offense was dead in the water in the 2nd half. There was reason to believe you would have at least one more meaningful possession (and maybe 2 considering you had all 3 TOs). In general, I feel like I don't get much in that situation by kicking the FG because I still need a TD. Maybe the unlikelihood of success on a 2 pt conversion against a great D sways it enough here.

Those are the main points to my thinking.
In other games, against other teams and other situations I would agree with going for it.
I am not an ultra-conservative by any stretch, just felt in that situation that three points would have been huge and set them up for the victory --- Glad it didn't work out that way.

Well the odds of getting a 2-point conversion are around 50%. So the odds of making a FG there is certainly not double or 100%. They are better for sure though but that's kind of pointless because they didn't need to weigh the odds of kicking a FG vs. getting a two-point conversion, they needed to weigh the odds of kicking a FG AND scoring a TD vs. the odds of scoring a TD from inside the 20 and making a 2 point conversion.

You are most certainly second guessing based off what happened though. They got multiple chances with the ball in good field position under 5 mins in the game. So now you are judging them based upon that. That very rarely happens and going for it and not converting from inside the 20 may be a major reason why

I hate the patriots and their bitch ass fans who think they are hot shit.

Yesterday was a victory for all of us and Jets played a part in disrupting that home field advantage.

I prefaced my original post, that I was not judging them based on that and that at the time I was laughing at the douche-bag announcers for saying it was absolutely the right move.

If you choose not to believe that at face value and think I need to lie on a fucking internet message board so be it.

And with no running game and the way Denver plays man coverage - absolutely no way that they get the 2 point conversion 50% of the time.

okay listen. I will set aside the whole "after the fact" argument..

but listen to yourself right now. Talking about how difficult it would be for them to make a 2-point conversion from 2 yards but it would somehow be easier to get the ball multiple times, drive it down AND score? It was the right decision at the time and it will always be the right decision to go for it there.

It was 4th and 1 from the 16 yard line dude. Its not even a really a decision to go for the TD and 2-point conversion honestly. Its simply a decision to go for it on 4th down when they only needed 1 yard

Watching the Pats lose always makes me happy.

Also, did the NFL suspend the rules governing intentional grounding and offensive holding to give Brady a fighting chance? Every. Single. Play.

Something that happened again yesterday. 38 seconds left in the first half with 1 TO remaining, down 17-9 and the Pats take a knee. Didn't they do this against us and it came back to bite them? With the offence they have, don't you make an effort at something?

Yes, but didn't Rex take a similar approach in '11?

I recall the Jets rushing three, smothering the Pats' 5-wides, and poor Tom drilling the ball into the ground in frustration.

Except they wouldn't need to get the ball MULTIPLE times they only would need to get the ball one time and score.

It is easy to say "Oh it is only one yard, you have to go for it", and although I have no stats in front of me, I can say that I have pretty much seen defenses step up and stop teams as often as the team gets the one yard in those fourth and 1 situations.

You cannot claim "this is always the right thing to do" -- That is YOUR opinion.
There is nothing you can say that will change what I thought at the time and still think now - with 6 minutes left in the game and 3 time outs and the way the game was going - I kick the FG

The thing is we will never know if kicking a FG would have changed the game any differently, what you can say 100% is that going for it on fourth did not work.

Looks like they could have definitely called holding a few times against the Patriots and chose not to. Unfortunately that's nothing new.

You can say it is always the right thing to do because they have statistics that prove your chances of converting a 4th and 1 are better than your chances of getting the ball back AND converting multiple 1st downs for a TD. so its not really my opinion its metrics.

But you gotta be kidding me with your last sentence. You jumped in my shit because I alluded to you making after the fact arguments. I agreed to let it go and then you finish your post with an after the fact argument. talk about a waste of time

anyway glad Denver won so who cares.
