We MUST figure out the guard positions. We likely have the two worst in the league right now and it’s why Sam is always running for his life and feeling uncomfortable. That pressure up the middle kills any QB. Van Roten was a bust of a signing and idk why we kept career backup Alex Lewis to start. Looking at you JD....if you weren’t fortunate enough to take Becton how would this line really look after your revamp
I've been hard on JD, very hard on him - especially with Robby/Adams; but as a GM you need more than one off-season in order for us Jet fans criticize him for our lackluster offensive line (as of right now). While fans such as myself wanted a 1st round WR such as a Jeudy/Lamb? JD had the IQ high enough to draft us an awesome LT within the form of a Franchise LT and if we're to actually draft Trevor Lawrence 1st overall? He'll walk into a situation where he'll now have a Franchise LT protecting his blindsided for 10+ years. Our Becton selection then becomes a stroke of genius. I'm sorry FieldofDreams but it was going to take more than just one off-season for JD or any other GM to revamp our offensive line, especially after 13 years of neglecting our offensive line because believe it or not; Becton was actually our first O-Lineman drafted during the first two rounds since dating back to 2006 where we selected Ferguson and Mangold and during 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 we had a combined 1 Offensive Lineman drafted during the 1st or 2nd round(s). A bust named Vlad. Don't look now but JD now has A.) A+ Cap Space #1 in available cap space moving forward, B.) The most amount of draft picks than any other franchise over the next 3 draft's and C.) A Franchise LT already in place before D.) Truly revamping our Offensive Line. After 13 full offseasons of Jets FO completing ignoring our O-Line throughout 13 NFL drafts, how could you ever expect one man to fix it during only 1 off-season? Becton @ LT and Mims @ WR back to back during the 1st and 2nd rounds proved to me that we've at least found ourselves an offensive minded GM who has a long-term plan. And if we're able to land Trevor Lawrence I'm 100% confident that JD will not only surround him with Quality Offensive Lineman but also WR weapons (throughout the draft). Macc wouldn't have drafted Becton and Mims 1 & 2 @ LT & WR but instead he would've drafted another DT and DE.
