I agree with you, but in the end they will just stay at #1 and take Bush. I highly doubt anyone will blow them away with an offer they can't refuse...(thats what it would take) A trade involving Abe and our #4 pick could get us the #1 pick, but wouldn't it be better to get a QB and just stay at #4? I would prefer trading abe for a pick and just taking Cutler at 4...
only problem there is if you get a big fat dt or an ol in the 2nd and 3rd round youd end up paying him about 90% less than the same player via free agency
it would be nice PPP10 but like i wrote in post #5, bush isnt worth 4 players that we could get for #1 pick.. and i'd rather draft max jean-giles and mangold to replace kendall and mawae than draft FAs.. they are FAs because they want more money than their respective teams want to give to them so why would be want to pay them, and they arent that important to their teams that they need to keep them.. def go with the draft to build a solid OL.. we are going to other take a QB or RB with our 1st rounder but we need to start the OL since we have no one playing there..
The reason why the Texans have the number one pick is because of Charley Casserly. The trade for Bucahnon, the trade up for Babin, picking Travis Johnson, trading a second round pick for Tony Hollings!!!. I think that Casserly is the dumbest GM in the league. I almost forgot he gave Todd Wade a 10million dollar signing bonus. Man, seriously we could do a better job of doing his job. O.K. I'm done I still cant believe that he has a job. Sorry for going off topic, but you gotta belive they are blowing smoke here. I would imagine they wouldnt trade away that pick unless some team knocks there socks off. If any team does trade up for the number one pick I dont think it would be us cause #1 picks demand a crazy amount off dough. Considering that we still have to cut people I cant see us doing it.
Heres the link Texans | Team exploring trading No. 1 pick Sun, 26 Feb 2006 14:54:01 -0800 Cliff Brunt, of the Associated Press, Houston Texans general manager Charley Casserly said Sunday, Feb. 25, that the Texans have been talking to teams about possibly trading the first pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. "There's clearly players at the top of this draft that are marquee players," Casserly said. "Players that are impact players, players that are going to go to the Pro Bowl, players that are going to sell tickets. We're going to get offers for this pick. We've already had discussions with teams. I think there's value in our pick." Again, it sounds interesting but I dont know that Id do it. Bush is a great player, no doubt about it. But instead of trading Abe and our 1st for one player, we could conceivably trade down and stockile a pick in the 2nd, and trade Abe for another pick, maybe two. So which would you rather take, the 3-4 picks (3-4 potential starters), or the 1 pick?
The best and smartest thing for Houston to do is trade down. But the team most likely to move up will be Tenn with there eye on Leinart. It is no risk whatsoever for Houston to trade down to 3 or 4. They will still be gauranteed Bush or at worst DBrick. Not a bad move picking up some extra picks and still getting the guy you would have gotten at 1.
That sounds like a more likely scenario out of the ones I have thought of. Jay Cutler and a RT in the second round would be a good way to go. Then in the third round grab the best playmaker. Whether it be WR, RB or TE...in RD 3 there is usually some good talent in the WR department. I think Hines Ward was a 3rd rounder, Chris Henry was a 3rd rounder as well as Laveranues Coles. Maybe target a speed WR in RD 3.
if this pick is indeed available and we have what it takes to make a move up to #1. we need to do that
it would be sick to have the 1st pick.......................we could get bush or leinart either way i would be happy
I'd rather see us move down than up. We're just like the Texans, with many holes. However, considering that we do have a certain Mr. Abraham that needs to be traded, maybe this is a sensible option.
I agree, IF we have the chance at making a move to #1 without losing many picks then I think we have to do this. Reggie Bush will be an elite player year one. I would still feel bad though since we didn't get a franchise QB. Maybe a guy like Brodie Croyle in RD 2 could fill that void. Either way I still don't see the Texans moving from #1 unless they get a RIDICULOUS offer... In that case I would stay at #4 and draft Jay Cutler. Round two look to upgrade the Offensive line (RT). In Round 3 go BPA...I would love to draft WR here because usually there is some good WR talent in this round.

Pick up Reggie Bush and then build a team around him. Rebuilding this team will take time no matter what... i think if we have a chance to get the next great RB, we take it and find the other pieces in free agency.
I'm not certain of the GREATNESS of Reggie Bush. Runningback is a position that seems to me to be highly overrated. It's all about the offensive line in the end.
No way the Texans trade the #1 pick, they will take Bush and then maybe try to fill holes by stock piling more picks later in the draft.
