What is wrong with our TE plays? Why doesn't one of those brilliant beat writers delve into this mystery, anyway? Nobody has brought it up today, and SNY ignored it as well.

This might explain some of it, from the NY Daily News:

Check Bway's response to that post, those checkdowns aren't by design unless Favre sees coverage he doesn't like, and I also think it's a vote of confidence for the wideouts that he has that much faith in their ability to make decent yardage from that close to the LOS.

It is so funny to read threads from year to year. Last year it was WR's not being used. Too many dumpoffs. Now we get Favre and the WRs become viable targets and now we see "TE's not being used". I swear. You can never win with these people

huh? I think sometimes we are somehow foolish enough to convince ourselves we know more about football and how to run an offence than the coaches do. The play is set up so that Cotchery can make a play and try to brake some tackles. We saw it on quite a few occasions Sunday with short passes to Cotch, Coles and Leon - they're our playmakers and their greatest strength is YAC. So it makes sense. I would admit we did it too much against the Bengals but hey I'd rather have Brett throwing from 2nd and 7 rather than 2nd and 18. Remember the Pats game?
