You are overestimating the amount of talent on the Jets D. They were helped out by very conservative playcalling on the offence. You may mock the 3rd and 15 draw or the punts from the 35, but those plays kept our D in very good situations. On the other hand, Minnesota's defence has not been as talentless as you make it out. One thing that is rarely mentioned is Culpeppers fumbling. He is the worst player in the history of the NFL in fumbles per game. He has improved in that area in recent years, but he fumbles at the worst possible times. Deep in his own end or when his team is driving with a chance to win. He is his defences worst enemy. Have the Jets defences been better than the Vikings? Yes, but not by as much as you would think by the stats. Is the Vikings offence much more talented than the Jets O? Hard to deny. And by alot more than the difference in D's.
Moss DNP in 3 games but was hurt and had zero receptions in the two games prior to his DNP's. The Vikings went 3 and 2 in those 5 games. Culpepper had a QB rating of 103.2 against TN in a win, 62.1 in a loss to the Giants, 121.3 in a win against Indiana, 117.9 in a win against Detriot and 97.5 in a loss to GB. Culpepper threw 9 TD's and 3 INT's in those 5 games. He was great with and without Randi Moss in the lineup in 04.
how the hell do you love Bradshaw. the guy is a douchebag. He might be the dumbest human being on the face of the earth (excluding paul Macguire of course)
Most of this is speculation. Yes, Culpepper had a fumbling problem early in his career, but I'd like to see some stats that prove that Culpepper "always fumbles at the worst possible time". The fact is the Vikings defense has been all but devoid of talent the past few years and we have stats to back that up. 2000: 4127 passing yards at a 7.1 YPA, 23 TDs 8 INTs. 1788 rushing yards at a 4.5 YPA, 17 TDs 2001: 3571 passing yards at a 7.5 YPA, 16 TDs 8 INTs. 2299 rushing yards at a 4.8 YPA, 21 TDs 2002: 4300 passing yards at a 7.9 YPA, 33 TDs 16 INTs. 1666 rushing yards at a 4.2 YPA, 15 TDs 2003: 3722 passing yards at a 7.0 YPA, 17 TDs 28 INTs. 1879 rushing yards at a 4.9 YPA 22 TDs 2004: 3888 passing yards at a 7.2 YPA, 30 TDs 11 INTs. 2006 rushing yards at a 4.6 YPA 15 TDs This is a talentless defense with a complete inability to stop the run, and with the exception of a fluke year in 2003 in terms of INTs a complete inability to stop the pass as well. Removing the TD's from the stat lines(which you blame Daunte for) this is still without a doubt the work of a terrible defense, and you can't blame the gaudy per play average on Daunte's fumbles.
the best part is the poll Do you agree with any of Terry Bradshaw's observations of Daunte Culpepper? 15.8% Yes, he won't be ready for the season opener (709 responses) 10.8% Yes, he's not a top quarterback (486 responses) 10.4% Yes, there are questions about his leadership (467 responses) 63.0% No, he's full of it (2826 responses) 4488 total responses
Thats faulty logic. Saying he had a bad year because he had great completion % and TD/int ratio doesnt make any sense
DC is not a bad QB. What a biased joke. He is a good QB and yes he's had help with Moss, but what QB's don't have help of their WR's? Conversley, he is not the be all end all QB I read on FinHeaven. You'd swear he could do no wrong with the homers there. If the Jets had gotten DC, FinHeaven would be ablaze at how bad he is and the people here would be out of their mind with how good he is. In all of this though, there are plenty of posters who see this. It is such a petty game some of these homer posters play, no?
I'm beginning to think that Junc displays so much hatred for the Phins because he secretly thinks Dan MArino is "dreamy".
