for millionth time Sands plays as much as Raiders starters DTs(Tom kelly and W sapp) . HE is the Raiders best run defender. Can TErdel Sands or any NT stop another team running game by themselve . NO of course not its a team effort. Let me try and explain it to you another way. GO look up TED Washington numbers .(Tackles etc) Wow for a guy that was considered one of the best NT in the game ,he didn't have that many tackles. NOw go look up the lB'S that played behind this monster . I bet you they had there best years. These monster NT are there to eat up blockers, so the lBs can just run free to the ball.
I wouldnt mind signing him at the very least as a back-up at NT and 3-4 DE. Whether he can start or not is another story. However,A guy w/ that size and height can certainly play either position in the 3-4. He was pretty impressive against us in week 17(Watched him alil bit and did a good job plugging holes and collapsing the pocket) I believe Kimo and Hamilton will both be gone, and w/ Titus Adams being claimed by the Giants..we have some needs up front, depth wise, starting wise, and devlopmentally. LE: Ellis NT: D rob, Pouha, Mosley, Moore RE: Ball(not suited for 3-4 De) and ???? I expect either Mosley or Moore to be cut as both are one dimensional, and Pouha is most likely better than both. That leaves a back-up for Ellis, and a starter and back-up for the other spot.
