Now ftr I am not saying I know the Jets have been getting players who will not work out. But they do have injury issues. It's not a case of no one coming to the Jets, but after last season, after seeing the Jets double down on Mark Sanchez this off season, well I doubt you will hear anymore about players wanting to come here when they could have gone somewhere else.
From my perspective, we have less money to offer these players so they aren't coming here. That's my logic on this "nobody wants to play here". I'm sure if we outbid Cincy, Nelson would be here. We aren't in position to do that. You think Tone resigned here last year because he wanted to or because he got 50 mil? You think Plax signed here because he wanted or because we were the only team to give him guaranteed money? You think LT signed here because he loved the organization, or because we gave him more of a role and more money than Minnesota? The Jets are looking to replace starters. If you want a star/someone really good you have to pay. If the Jets pay a lot, they can't create any other depth or backups. At this point, with the cap room, the best strategy is to go cheap and maximize the cap space available.
So basically you are saying that all those people who were talking about FA's wanting to come to the Jets before this year were full of crap.
the thing is, the pats are signing good players for decent money, which the jets have similar funds but not getting those type players. TE danial fells is getting roughly 2 million a year, not bad for a top of the line blocking TE. same for loyd $4 mill and gonzales vet min. the pats are getting the good players at reasonable money, the very players the jets needly badly at those positions.
That is a nonanswer. You stated that no free agents wanted to come here. You seem to have some sort of inside knowledge of the phone calls being made and the players the FO is talking to. So I will ask ask again: Which players have stated they didn't want to play here? Name them. First off the Pats have something around 20 UFAs, that is almost half their roster. Of course they are going to be signing more players than us. Secondly Gallery sucks ass. Oh I see now, so other teams depth signings are better than the Jets depth signings. I thought that no players wanted to sign here at all? I'm confused. You have no idea if their "reward side players" are better than the Jets'. The season, hell training camp, hasn't even started yet. The Jets have Cumberland coming off IR this year. Before he got hurt last year he looked to be an excellent all around TE. Maybe you should familiarize yourself with our roster a little more. The Pats have different needs than the Jets. Regardless these minor depth signings both teams are making are meaningless. They are mostly 1 year contracts. Who is to say is most of these players are even going to make the rosters of either team? Im by no means a FO apologist. But this illogical, reactionary nonsense of some fans piss me off. Some people just like to bitch and moan. And Jets fans who ride the Pats jock annoy me even more.
Heard the same thing last year about Ocho and Haynesworth. How did that work out? Maybe we should see if these guys even make the opening day roster before we give the Pats a reach around.
Who ended up coming here for less money? The big name guys we got under Tanny/Rex were Bart Scott who got offered real good money. Tone who we resigned to really good money. LT who we spent some money on and offered him a starting job. Plax the only team that supposedly gave him guaranteed money. Pace came here before Rex or Rex's first year here? Either way he got big money. We overpaid on Cromartie based on market value and he came back here. The big time guys demanded money. Could you say players like Mason, Pryce, etc came here for Rex and co? Probably. But those signings are equivalent to the signing of Landry, Schillens, etc because they aren't big time players and they weren't expecting big pay days. I buy that people who aren't expecting big paydays might come here because of Rex and stuff, but people saying nobody wants to come here is incorrect after we replaced our offensive coaches and have added a couple players. I also buy FA's saying they would love to come here, but they are going to drop a significant amount of money to come here. Otherwise we would have Nnamdi on the team right now.
So you're made because of Daniel Fells, Trevor Scott and Anthony Gonzalez. Nevermind we resigned Bryan Thomas cheap, signed a safety in Landry and got a depth receiver in Schilens whom I'd rather have than Gonzalez. Gonzalez makes Schilens look like he's a model of good health.
I guess Jimmy came here because of Rex and co? I don't remember if there was much of a market for his talent or not.
I guess it remains to be seen if Thomas will ever come back. He is only 5 months removed from an injury that usually takes a year to heal. I am guessing none of that deal was guaranteed.
i noticed you left a few names off your list of pats signnings, predictably some of the better ones and starters at that. bt & schilens, LOL. schilens has the same history as gonzales except gonzales is much better when on the field. schilens is a 4th or 5th at best. bt is not a world beater, never was. i'll take the pats signings over anything the jets have taken by far.
because you know very little about what your talking about, don't take it out on those that don't have the green glasses you wear and fog your brain as well as your eyes.
and who did you hear it from? i hear a lot of things too, but i don't go around assuming you said them.
