My problem here is that "concern" probably isn't the best word, Tedy ass-head with the ass-face, and the ass-brushed coif. The better intro should have been: "I hate the Jets, and this is why I hate them THIS year. . . ." On a side note, want to know one of the bigger issues with living in the Greater Boston area? (I mean, aside from all the ones that you'd otherwise want to suggest, of course.) When you take your dog to the park, there are always four dogs there named "Bruschi," and six named "Brady." Someday I'm going to borrow my brother's dog, bring him to the dog park, and spend the entire time hollering for "Rod Rust."
Its true. Chad was that kind of guy. But he did sit on the bench for 2+ seasons so when his chance came, he was obviously ready and excited. The funny thing is many fans hated on Chad for how he played, but now the coaching staff is wishing for Sanchez to play that way, but its not his style.
I agree with this post. About the worst thing you could say about him in the Ravens game was that he didn't "lead" his team in the 4th qtr, and yes he's not really ready to do that yet against a good D.
The analysis reminded me of the classic speech by Shane Falco. "You're playing and you think everything is going fine. Then one thing goes wrong. And then another. And another. You try to fight back, but the harder you fight, the deeper you sink. Until you can't move... you can't breathe... because you're in over your head. Like quicksand. Sanchez was indeed victimized by his offensive teammates errors (Greene, Keller, J Co, Edwards & Shotty's play calling). But it is also pretty obvious he doesn't quite have that body language thing worked out yet. watching Hard knocks it was clear that he still has quite a bit of maturing to do. anyway, I still have faith he'll progress nicely. if anything he followed orders a little too closely Monday night. as other have said, Bruschi was hardly ripping him, just stating what he and a lot of others saw.
No one's hating on him. Everyone's just being honest. His demeanor when we've been behind/when he makes mistakes has been terrible, and his decision making follows. It's the 2nd game of the season, and I'm sure everyone commenting here hopes he demonstrates an improved attitude as the season goes on, just like you do.
In my opinion a check down LATERALLY to a back is not a pass...I don't care what the stats say. A pass qualifies as more than 3 yds. from the line o scrimmage. So, having said that...care to re-numerate?
If your gonna create your own personal definition of what a pass is you could probably do the re-numerating yourself.
If you re-watch the 2nd half like I did, you would see that there are receivers down the field open and Sanchez looks down the field for about 2 seconds then immediately checks down to a back. Schottenheimer did a pretty good job scheming. The QB did not do his job and take shots down the field.
I still think it comes down to Schotty and Cavanaugh, and them trying to make Mark fit the system not make the system fit Mark. If you look at Mark's 2008 stats while at USC he had his best games when he threw around 30 passes a game. In the Rose Bowl he exploded on Penn completing 28 of 35 passes for a 80% completion percentage. Threw for 413 yards, 4 TD's, and had a 216.83 passer rating. That is the kind of QB we drafted, if we just needed a guy to hand off the ball we should not have wasted the 5th pick on a QB. If I were Mark I wouldn't feel comfortable either, how the hell do they expect him to play or get into anything close to a rhythm without removing the restrictions. I was glad to see Rex will likely be removing the presnap useless cutesy shit. It's obvious to me this is the fundamental problem, how can Mark have confidence in what he's doing if the coaches don't show they do on gameday. I would love to see him come out this Sunday and throw the ball 35 times. The Rams had Bradford throw over 50 passes in their opener. That must do wonders for his psyche, and we seemed okay with Mark throwing early in 09 and then completely ripped any confidence he might have had left away.
this. 2nd year.. He's no longer a rookie. Time to use that skill we drafted so high. Sanchez should throw 30+ a game.
I know. I'm not talking about roll-outs or quick check downs so much as dropping back and slinging it. And 20 should be the minimum (i.e. if you're leading, and there's no need for more), but ideally we should be aiming for a few more than that.
This is what is missing. On the field leadership. What bothered me the most about the game on offense more than anything else was when the Jets were getting the ball back in the 4th quarter somewhere and there was a close-up of Sanchez as they came on the field and he was scared! He looked scared shitless! He did not look like a QB who couldn't wait to lead his team to victory, relishing it. The whole offense was a reflection of that. Maybe the usually sure-handed Cotchery catches the ball if they're believing. I don't know, but he is not a very good leader and I don't think that can be coached or, in another season or so he will get it. That's what worries me.
What do you expect? In those first seven throws he had 2 drops, and was hurried every other time. The game plan needs to change, that is all. Rex can hang is hat on running the ball all he wants but this is a passing league. If the Rams realize this with Jackson running the ball Rex has to as well. How would your confidence be if on consecutive 3rd and 4 we ran the ball without even getting the first. SET HIM FREE!
He is a 2d yr QB. Why on earth some people have this notion that he s/b suddenly playing w/the confidence of a 5 yr vet is a bit ridiculous. He is a 2d yr QB. Young QBs typically struggle in the NFL. We all knew this when he was drafted and when we decided to start a rookie QB. Some have apparently forgotten this however.
You obviously don't watch much ESPN (good for you, ESPN is horrendous) because Tedy Bruschi is probably the biggest Jets supporter on the channel. He picked them to win the division and I think to make the superbowl (100% sure about the former, not positive on the latter.)
