Yup the pistol stuff is brilliant in Washington, cant throw enough credit the Shannihans way. Seamlessly mixing in the college stuff with the pro stuff all out of the same formations so you don't know when its coming is ripping defenses apart. Even when they put in a 4th round draft pick rookie it worked out well. RGIII is a super star, but a lot of their success and credit needs to fall on the coaching staff.
The reason they installed the Pistol was so you could put a QB under center and run the same plays. Shanny worked with Urben Meyer in the off season on how to use RG3's talents.
First of all that's bullshit. The coach can do whatever he wants. Second, who gives a shit about going back to Sanchez? I mean really?
You guys were telling me the only reason Rex went to McElroy was that Sanchez finally played poorly enough - it just so happened that Tebow was inactive that day. Now Sanchez played an even worse game with Tebow active. So what you previously said - as of right now - is wrong. Just like 90% of the horse shit you guys spew for Tebot excuses.
It just makes sense for Tebow to stay #2. What could Tebow do in the last 2 games to prove to Jets coaches he's their starter for next year? Throw for 400/game, but that's not gonna happen. Tebow only loses by starting these last 2 games. For McElroy, this could either solidify his status as backup or give hope to the Jets org that maybe he can be a starter...or at least a fill-in starter next year until they find their next guy. For Tebow's sake, he has to hope and do all his praying that the Jets are willing to trade him to another team that's willing to work with him and potentially use him correctly.
I would normally say you are right about the coincidence not being a coincidence (pulling sanchez for mcelroy) but then it makes no sense to deactivate mcElroy...maybe the real reason is that Rex is incompetent when it comes to anything that has to do with offense.
Chris Mortensen @mortreport Mark Sanchez benched. Greg McElroy is Jets starter. Tim Tebow is Tim Tebow. Look for more from @RichCimini on next episode. Tell me more about how Tebow is the #2 QB. Well, the good news is that he probably still is.
I'm sure that Tebow fans are all very happy that McElroy leapfrogged Tebow, and will finish out the season as the starter. Or was Tebow #3 all along? I'm guessing the latter.
If this turns out to be true, then I concede your point, Rex just didn't want Tebow starting. I wish McElroy well, I like the kid, always have back to his bama days. I think he's more likely to have a career as a sports broadcaster than as a starting NFL QB, but I'll be happy to let him show me something and change my mind. Anyone wan to bet how Rex will explain moving McElroy from deactivated status to starter? And will it involve the phrase "he gives us the best chance to win"?
I can not speak for everybody only for myself but if Tebow got in with that offensive line and sparano it was over for him (maybe if he had some games around mid season to work things out but not like this) . I wish the best for MeClroy, it will make it easier for Jets to cut Tebow as soon as season is over.
Sporano couldn't offensively scheme his way out of a wet paper bag. Hopefully for McElroy's sake, he gives him some latitude to audible at the line. If Tebow started the last 2 games and the Jets won them, all the Tebow haters would just say "well they were bad teams and it was the end of the season and since they weren't going to the playoffs they had nothing to play for". Just like they did after the end of the 2010 season and the comeback win over Houston.
I think it is time for some to apologize to LongTimeJetsFan. A lot of us tried to tell you something stinks with the timing they chose to bench Sanchez when it happened to be during the only time Tebow couldn't come in. Now they go to McElroy.
Houston was an AWESOME team that year. They won SIX games, which was REALLY damn good!!! Their passing defense finished all the way into the top 32 that year!!! Just 2 years away from a potential Superbowl run!!! I mean look at them now! who knew they were traveling in that direction at the time. Feel better?
So in Rex's conference call this afternoon, he basically dodged all questions about Tebow and gave no real reason as to why he was going with McElroy instead of Tebow except that it was his decision and he thought it was the right decision for the team. Nothing about "winning", apparently, maybe he figured it was a bridge too far to use that one again.
