He correctly surmised that Sanchez was vulnerable. I think he assessed Soprano incorrectly. Soprano is a bag of fail. But the same thing is true in JAX. So, you take the job you can get. The Jets should have just benched Sanchez after 5 or 6 weeks and had a fun season with Tebow. For some reason, everybody clenches up and gets all nervous when it comes to Tebow.
Rex just obviously does not like him or that they got him, this is not about who is "better for the team" but about Rex acting like a child and taking his ball home...
Although I dislike having the Tebots around here, I never had any personal animosity toward Tebow himself. Other than the fact he's not a real NFL Qb, of course. But I agree the Jets misused him, probably for marketing purposes. I wonder if they think they got their money's worth out of Tebow. Anyway, the sooner he's gone, the sooner it will be better for everyone involved, including me as a Jet fan.
I have to laugh at you cry babies that feel "sorry" for him. The Jets may have been dumb using him as punt protector, but as far as I know he got paid the same to be punt protector as he would've as a starter. So Fuck him. He's not out anything. Do your job and collect your paycheck - that's life. This is the NFL, nobody is "promised" anything. You earn your spots. Tebow didn't earn the starting QB position because of poor practice play. He's showing his true colors asking for a trade and will probably find a rude awakening when no offers come rolling in. I say its about 50/50 someone takes a shot signing him when the Jets release him and it will be for much less than he's making now. Punt protector won't sound too bad when he's struggling to make a roster.
Boo friggin hoo, you guys are breaking my heart!!! This is the way the NFL works. If you are not good enough, or if you struggle to execute a certain game plan, you're simply not going to get to play. The Jets had no interrest in changing their playbook to fit the one oddball player that simply has a really rough time executing a playbook. It was obvious the Jets had no intention of running a spread option offense. It is also a lesson that ownership should probably find out what the coaching staff thinks of a guy before they bring him in for marketing reasons. Sure, Rex said some nice things in front of the cameras, and the coaching staff DID provide the lip service that made people think he actually had a chance, but all of us should be smarter than that by now and read between the lines. Unfortunately, I think Tebow will get similar treatment wherever else he goes. There wasn't a long list of teams that wanted him a year ago for better than a 4th rounder, and hs stock CAN'T have gone up. Wondering if even Jacksonville will bring him in now after seeing it turn into disaster in the PR department within months. I'm sure someone will, but just a couple weeks ago even the media outlets have decided he isn't a big money maker anymore and ESPN went out of their way to say they were covering him less. (Probably to milk even THAT story and see how many people care.) Also, someone mentioned a CFL team already has rights to him. Don't know much about the CFL, but why is this the case?
He did not ask for a trade. its an anonymous article rehashing Manish speculation. Get a grip Mr. Nagle, its almost over.
Don't know. I can see why a competetive guy would want to be out there or be traded to a team that will. However, "if" he ALREADY requested it, then it does kinda fly in the face of that "good soldier" image he busted his ass to create. Since there isn't a damn thing he could do about it either way, it would have been better for him to wait a couple weeks. To do it now just looks like sour grapes. Sure, people are still behind it, but what is the harm of waiting 2 more weeks to declare those intentions? My money says it is all a rumor and no request was actually made.
Montreal Alouettes (the Patriots of the CFL I guess, I am not an expert) took a flyer on him during the draft , which means they own his rights. If tebow were to go to the CFL they have exclusive rights at signing him , here is a recent write up (yesterday I think) at the very least you need to rush over to their forums and sign up and start the unrelenting campaign against Tebow...hurry.... you don't want phaytal getting their first. http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2012/12/18/3782684/tim-tebow-cfl-montreal
Thanks for the article... As for hurrying to register.... Tebowmania will be wherever he goes when I get there... no rush. Might not even bother if he goes to Jacksonville. The ones that seemed to want any part of Tebow at all seemed to be outnumbered by those that seemed to hate him by a 20 to 1 ratio. Probably an exaggeration, as I only looked for a few minutes. I guess we'll see how many gator fans show up. Don't know enough about the CFL to know if he'd thrive there. I know there is an extra player, and the field dimensions are somewhat different, but that is the extent of it. If they are the "patriots" of the CFL, then don't they already have their Tom Brady?
Tebow wants trade after season Manish Mehta @MMehtaNYDN Tim Tebow will ask Jets to be traded or released after the season assuming McElroy starts last 2 gms, per source: http://tinyurl.com/co3eo3j #nyj
When sources claim Rex has something personal against Tebow - you believe it.. When sources claim anything that makes Tebow look good - you believe it.. But, When sources claim anything that makes Tebow look bad - it's just speculation?? okay buddy
Showing his true colors? Like you mean he wants to start somewhere instead of collecting dust on the bench knowing he will never be used?
Their Tom Brady (carvahillo or something or other is his name ) is indeed the all time QB yardage leader of the CFL but he is FORTY years old LOL! Trestman their coach also loves tebow that's why he picked up his rights this past spring and also worked with him sevral times the last few years (he is a QB Guru, Kosar, Gannon etc.) . CFL has only 3 downs instead of 4 and a wider field, that's the main difference. Oh and Jaguars is close to 100 to 1 not 20 to 1 but if our crew ever gets there we will even the odds at about 100 to 9, roughly what it is here.
you can not find any post where I said any of that . Why don't you leave the "island of misfit toys" that is the tebowmania section and go talk about the new messiah McElroy in the main forum. I am sure they can use your input over there.
The Tebow trade to the Jets was bad for the Jets and horrific for Tebow. He is a good kid and a winner, but this is probably the best for all concerned. Tebow's stock could rise again, not sure that can be said for Rex, and his dysfunctional staff.
We can put that on the epitaph of his career. That would really be something to write a memoir about should he turn it around, because I just don't see how he bounces back after this. It wasn't as if there was a long line of teams that wanted him a year ago either or they would have offered better than a 4th rounder. It was such a steep hill to climb even BEFORE his stock plummetted. Just don't see how he recovers.
