My assessment will immediately mirror Jetfanmack's. 5th round draft pick or lower is a good idea. Let it be so. Let it be known. Hear, hear. On a more serious note, trading away a low draft choice when you've got a bunch of compensatory picks and you missed out on your #1 option in FA isn't a bad idea when you're going to get a pretty big guaranteed bump up in performance in even a change of pace formation like the wildcat. Just as long as retards don't get their way when they start calling for Sanchez's head so they can bow at the altar of the Tebow the idea is kind of half-exciting when you think about it. Gotta be a pretty big improvement over Kerley.
Ive been interested in this Tebow thing since it was brought up here, and as much as I love the idea, I am deathly afraid of these bandwagon Jet fans. You know the Jet fans who freak out about every little thing. "Why couldnt Sanchez of thrown for 300 yards instead of 298, WTF he is horrible!!!", you know, that kind of bullshit. If we bring Tebow in, the second Sanchez has a bad game, throws a pick, or makes a bad pass we will start hearing Tebow chants. I just wonder how that will play on Sanchez's psyche. Now I assume he is a tough kid and just doesnt speak up to the media but that would get to any QB, IMO. Its clearly a gamble, and I think what it can do for our offense outweighs the media circus, especially if Sanchez plays well in the process. I agree with most of you, if its for a lower round pick (5th), then I am all for it. Whats the worst that can happen? The hype gets too crazy and we trade him for a higher pick to a team desperate for a QB and/or ticket sales? If any higher and I start to get questionable about what the move is really about.
Here we go..... http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/...-new-york-jets-or-jacksonville-jaguars-032012 (Supposedly headed to one or the other "today")
Remember the draft is still to come. A right tackle can be drafted and that guy could start immediately if the guy comes from a big school and is not a project.
This organization EVEN contemplating such a move shows how utterly pathetic jets management really is. :/
im jumping on the 5th rounder or lower bandwagon. i also think that the jags will over value him, since they need him for more than just a qb (they need someone to fill that stadium, which he will do) and offer a 2nd or 3rd.
Brad Smith went for a fourth..that seems like the logical pick for Tebow as well. He will be a little better than Smith playing the same role (Smith has only completed 4 passes in 5 years) but I still don't think that is enough to give up a third.
Tebow is a good player. It would be interesting to see him in a Jets Uni. I am guessing he will wind up in Jacksonville but ya never know!
Jacksonville makes too much sense. 1.) they need to sell tickets 2.) Tebow grew up in Jax 3.) Khanqaeda wants to create a splash as a 1st year owner 4.) Blaine Gabbert sucks i think he'll end up there
Remember all the things we said about Tebow the week before the Jets-Denver game? What's changed? We don't have a QB coach who can iron out Mark's mechanics, you think we have someone who can begin to fix Tebow's?
