So before you complain about Sanchez's playoff appearances, you talk about McElory COLLEGE championship. Then you go and complain that people talk about Mark's playoff record so then you talk about Tebow and McElroy COLLEGE accomplishments which are as far back as Sanchez's playoff record now and in a different league. Then you try to attack the wins matter argument by bringing up their COLLEGE accomplishments and ignoring the NFL so far. So yeah keep on rambling. McElory could well become a great QB one day, but 32 teams disagree with that about 6.5 times over. It would be cool if a 7th rounder turned into our franchise QB, odds say it isn't happening. It would be cool if we traded for a franchise QB in Tebow, odds say that didn't happen either. But year go on and wish your own QB gets injured. Thats some positive thinking I don't get why people don't understand Sanchez sucks, Tebow sucks, and Greg McElroy was predicted to suck and has a very weak arm and was on the IR last year, but sure he will step in and lead us to a championship like he did the Crimson Tide in college? If you have those expectations for a 3rd QB drafted in the 7th round, uhhh become realistic
Hell, if rings are what you go by, I seem to recall that Tebow has 2 of them . He also has a Heisman trophy to go along with them . My point remains that people were fine with giving Sanchez YEARS to develop and become a better QB. Yet, even though Tebow has only had 16 total starts in his career, you all want to write him off. If you care to debate how he did as a QB while at Florida, step on over to the Tebowmania section and I'll be happy to engage you. As for his time in the NFL, think about this. Before taking over as the starter in game 6 last year, he had about the same amount of NFL experience as McElroy does right now. That is, one and a half preseasons where neither got first team snaps coupled with a lot of time carrying the clipboard and running the practice squad. People here would be apeshit happy if McElroy had taken over for Sanchez in game 6 and gone 7 -4 for the rest of the season. Hell, if McElroy were to start these last 5 games, people here would be happy if he went 2-3, as long as he wasn't making boneheaded, asskicking mistakes like Sanchez has.
Those wanting to see McElroy I don't see that happening unless Señor Snatcho gets hurt. I think you'll see a close game that the Jets win negating the need to switch.
If the Jets never pulled Sanchez for Tebow, there's not a snowball's chance in hell that they pull him for McElroy (unless, as you suggested, Nacho gets hurt.)
AMEN! not only could we get an assessment of mcelroy, but even if he turns out to be only a 'hold-the-fort' guy, he could serve as a backup qb when we get a franchise guy to replace suckchise.
Disagree. We'll have a formidable option at backup this week (for really the first time this year) anything can happen.
He said McElroy had a ring, I said that Tebow had 2 of them AND a Heisman trophy as well. The 2 rings referred to National Championship rings.
See that's the same strawman argument Sanchez homers always use. Nobody is saying Mcelroy is gonna lead us anywhere. All we're saying is to give the guy a damn chance. If this was any other team in the league they would've benched Sanchez a long time ago
Wait so I'm a homer for saying all 3 of QBs suck? If this was any other team we wouldn't have extended our starting QB and then traded for a backup QB that we aren't going to use as a backup. If this was any other team we wouldn't have signed a backup QB then traded for another one. We are out the realm of what other teams would do at this point and have been for a long time
This was the statement that I replied to: Since HE is touting McElroy based on what he did in college, I pointed out that Tebow was even MORE successful in college.
