They don't pull Sanchez until Timmah is clearly not able to be the # 2 and that doesn't tell you something about what this staff thinks of his ability. L.O.L

Is it Tebow's ability, or the politics of the Tebow situation?

    yuuuuuuuuup

I think he's always viewed Tebow as Brad Smith II and doesn't want to see him at QB in anything other than an emergency situation. I mean who in their right mind is going to use their backup QB as a personal punt protector? It's just way too coincidental that he never pulled the trigger until yesterday. Sanchez has looked really bad for the majority of the season.

Cleared to play medically and being able to play at 100% are two very different things ESPECIALLY pertaining to Tebow.

With banged up ribs you cant really send him in there to do his read option stuff or try to scramble all over the field.

Take that away from Tebow and he loses what makes him special and Sanchez or Mcelroy would be the better pick.

On pure passing ability Tim might not the best option.

If I had to pick between a no running no scrambling tebow or Sanchez/Mcelroy, I might pick the latter and I sit in the pro tebow camp.

This very well could be the decision at hand.

I agree. Only a foolish coach would use their backup as a PPP.

... and I would have no problem with it if that is what Tebow was told and that's what the fans were told. They gave us this whole B.S. about Tebow packages, and so on and so forth. Maybe it was to make other teams waste time preparing for it, but I think that strategy backfired, and obviously didn't help them win games.

I think if they were honest and said that Tebow was QB3 or an "athlete" for them, they could have still gotten the benefit of his popularity (sell tickets/merchandise), kept Sanchez's mentality in tact, and Jets/Tebow fans would not be at each other's throats. LTJF and I could have a civil conversation and share a beer. Concerned Citizen and Phaytal could spend their weekends sculpting a marble statue of Peyton Manning in downtown Denver. The world would be a better place.

But I think Rex mislead us, the fans, and Tebow. And I'm butt-hurt.

Well let's see him stink it up then. Prove to us that he can't win, Rex. Broncos tried to do that and it cost them Andrew Luck. They did gain P. Manning though.

    Football politics.

Even if Tebow is as bad as you think he is, he'll go out and what... throw 3 INTs, maybe a fumble or two and the Jets lose the game. Then they just bench him indefinitely. Tebow experiment over. So it can't be just that they think he is terrible. It has to be something more than that.

Yep. That is a good possibility. It also benefits Tebow, because if he goes out and has a bad game, it would most-likely be his last shot. In contrast, McElroy would have a long leash. He could probably be terrible for 3 games and not get benched. Plus the season is almost over so if he gets the start, he'll probably finish as the starter no matter what the results are.

"He's only in his second year, and he hasn't been getting reps, or a training camp where he was the #1."

The argument that applies to every quarterback but Tebow.

Wow that Sanchez contract really makes this whole situation dicey. I doubt you can trade him at this point, and I wouldn't be surprised if he counted against the cap even if released.

Plus the Jets would be out a good bit of money.

Hypothetically if the Jets release Tebow (best thing for everyone), and McElroy wins the job, does Sanchez sit on the bench? Making that kind of cash?

Hmmm and he would be your third Alabama quarterback.

Yes, but I do believe Sanchez should be given the chance to compete for the starting job next year if he comes back.
