We are not selling the farm for one of these QBs, get a grip guys.

1 way ticket to bust town to be honest. Winston or Mariota would not be able to make up for any deficiencies this squad will develop over the next 2 seasons. The offensive line needs retooling, so does the defense and other positions on offense.

    Why not?

What constitutes a QB to trade up for? He aced his interviews. He was compared to Peyton Manning in intelligence by numerous scouts and coaches. He was perfect throwing the ball. And he comes from a pro style offense.

If you don't trade up for him, then who do you get?

You're overlooking the biggest problem on this team. We have no QB. I don't care how bad the offensive line is or the weapons we have, if we don't have a QB we aren't winning games. You expect teams to build an entire roster before getting a franchise QB?

You build around a QB. Not the other way around

Not unless you want to continue to be a perennial 9-7 to 4-12 team.

Who says we have to mortgage our future to move up? Why wouldn't a team like Jax who have a million holes and are most likely looking at an edge rusher take an extra top ten 2nd to move down 3 spots and still get a top level edge rusher?

I think we'd have to give up a hell of a lot less than a Philly to move up a few spots.

Teams in that top 2-3-4 are not going to want to drop to 20 for extra picks--they are going to want to assure themselves of a true blue chipper. If Jax is looking at a Cooper or a White, do they really want to drop to 20 for extra picks--regardless of how valuable they are--and miss out on those players?

More than likely to move up from 6 to 1, it will cost at least 2 first round picks and at least a few 2nd rounders - to me that price ain't worth it. We have a lot to fix on this team. I really like Winston, but at the end of the day, I think he's overly confident, border-line cocky and that could come back to haunt him, if the team were to lose games - will he implode or will he thrive is a big question. Then you have the issue of having a small # of picks going forward which really puts a damper on the development of the team as a whole.

Jets can get a prime player at 6, Mariota could be available, you got a selection of pass-rushers and wide receivers.

We have a lot more issues then just the QB. I'm not giving up a large number of picks for 1 player, especially if we aren't 1 player away from SB contention. Jets need to fix the right side of the line and the LG position, we have seen in the past the consequence of having a QB with a crappy offensive line.

I'm staying at 6 or trading down.

If the Jets draft Mariota next yr we are a 4-12 team until he's ACTUALLY ready. In which we are unsure if he will be up to the challenge.

Why don't you ask the Redskins this question?

Idk man. To be honest, I'd give up all the picks necessary to get Winston. He's a franchise QB that will likely have huge success in this league. He's got something Geno Smith never had, a genius level football IQ.

I hope to God we trade up

When you say "need a QB"...are you just simply saying we need a different QB?....because I'm not convinced we upgrade at that position with Mariotta. I'd almost rather build around Geno. Granted I too would like a better QB. But, if its not there then build around the one we have.

Oh got it, because the Redskins made a retarded trade 3 years ago that means we have to as well.

I suppose that means the Eagles will be trading a 2nd and 3 scrubs to get into the top 5.

Circumstances change, it makes perfect sense for the Jags to move down 3 spots, pick up an extra pick while still getting a top level prospect. It would be a steal for the Jags.

we don't need a different QB per say - I think Winston could really change the fortunes of the Jets Franchise. I don't think we can afford the trade up without hampering the rest of the roster for the next couple of yrs.

Winston alone won't make up all of the issues on this roster. Look at Luck, he won't past the Patriots until the Colts make that team a better all around roster. Imagine us trading up? Geez.

I do not want to trade up. Too many other good players to be had. It doesn't matter anyway. TB is entrenched in that spot and they are taking Jameis. Accept it now so you're not disappointed later.

I'm fine with that and I believe he'll be up for the challenge.

Yeah but would you rather go into the future with still problems at QB and hope there's another prospect or take the biggest prospect out of college since Luck? You're taking a gamble that you find a QB somewhere else late in the draft or in the future. Thats a lot of hope.
And all of those players won't win us games with Geno Smith

Well that's the decision that needs to be made.

We need a QB desperately. We are never winning unless we have a franchise QB. We need Winston

Instead of blowing my load instantly, I'd rather hold my balls and wait for Mariota to drop, then trade him to the Eagles for their underrated franchise QB.

I would rather not trade up, get the pieces needed to make this football team better and go with that. Trading up for Winston is a huge gamble, a gamble I would rather not be involved in. Too many picks.

Geno will eventually be replaced, I think if we get a vet here he will be replaced. I think if we as fans are patient we will get our QB and that QB will be in a better situation.
