he has to be told to do that or the coaches would have replaced him by now. Fitz is hands down MVP in my opinion. When's the last time we had 2 1000 yard receivers?
Marshall. He's definitely made some questionable plays (that stupid lateral that cost us the game) but he's definitely the clutch guy we can go to in situations and he's cleared space for Decker on the other side. Plus his blocking has been pretty incredible IMO. Doesn't seem like he's been a headcase, quite the opposite. I think with Fitzpatrick but no Marshall we're nowhere near the redzone threat we have been.
I think Marshall. He has put up big numbers with average QB's his whole life and think he'd have similar numbers with geno, maybe not as good but he'd still be over 1000 with double digit td's. Fitz has been amazing and it's close but without Marshall his numbers are totally different. But we can say the same if they didn't have decker. It's hard to pick an mvp because this team is playing such great team ball. But my votes marshall
Fitzpatrick. I give him the nod over marshall because he is the leader. He's protecting the ball well (no picks in last 4 games) and the team rallys behind him. Including marshall
the last time the jets had 2 1000 yard receivers was 1998 with Keyshawn and chrebet. just following up on my own question from before
Some really good players on that list but my MVP vote still goes to Mangold. If the starter went down at any other position (including QB) I feel this Jets team has a chance to still do something. However, one major Mangold injury would torpedo the Jets' playoff run. If I was allowed to give a second place vote, it would definitely be Fitz and I also love watching how he gets the best WR duo in football involved. edit: Damn, Just realized that we could vote for multiple players. When I saw the percentage breakdown on the right column, I assumed we were only allowed one vote.
If Marshall didn't have so many drops and killer turnovers, I'd pick him, but it's all about Fitz to me. Marshall is great, but he makes costly boneheaded mistakes. After Marshall, Mo Wilks.
I understand Fitz plays the most important position, and Marshall is having an historically great season by a Jets WR, but I'm really surprised Ivory has not received a single vote so far, especially since you can pick 2. Ivory is having a season right up there with the typical Marshawn Lynch season, and he's had a couple "beast quake"-like runs! Ivory deserves some recognition too.
If he's being told to catch punts around the 5 yard line, then the team definitely needs a new ST coach (he should be replaced anyways based on how the other ST units are performing).
With the expectation level set so low on Fitzmagic before he even threw a pass for us, it has to be him as the MVP, closely followed by Marshall. I had forgotten what a truly number 1 WR looked like until I saw him play at Wembley.
Marshall has made Fitzpatrick better, not the other way around. For god's sake Josh McCown had his best stretch of games in his career throwing to Marshall. Marshall is easily the most important player on this offense and he's the MVP.
It's gotta be Fitz over Marshall and Ivory IMO. Fitz dictates what to do with the ball on every play and his running has saved us on many occasions. While Marshall and Ivory are both having great years, Fitz is running the show and spreading the ball around. On defense, it's a toss up for me between Wilk, Harris, and Pryor.
Gotta answer this way... I understand completely the notion that if Fitzpatrick weren't in there, the huge downgrade to SMith would kill this team. But that's only one metric of MVP (that being added value over the 2 in the depth chart - I get that, but that's a roster game and not really about the player's talent and ability). I also get the joint Fitz and Marshall vote - give it to both. And the mentions of Mangold deserve note for reminding us how poorly the Jets did without him or him hurting. And I also agree Marshall has not been perfect, with some really bone headed plays. Also honorable mentions to Ivory, and as much as a Idzik hater as I've been Pryor, who while not MVP is most improved player from last year, no doubt. Fitz would otherwise be my choice - tough, a leader, smart, and effective. But in the end Marshall gets my vote. Not only is he along with Wilkerson one of the two tops with the most sheer talent. Imo the best wideout to play for the Jets at least since Keyshawn, maybe before that. But I think Marshall has also brought a certain intangible element that has the Jets turning the corner on past offensive ineptitude. He is the first player on O probably since Martin who other teams should and most do really fear. Without him, I don't see Fitz being as effective, Decker being as effective. His run blocking is underrated, too. He makes the running game better just by drawing attention. I also like the personal story on him, and I don't normaly pay too much attention to that sort of thing in a metric like this. But overcoming his past mental problems I think is setting an example for the rest of the team. He adds focus. He's got an upbeat attitude. He's a winner. Going into the year, Mangold and Ivory were my favorite players. And I respect what Fitz has done, and like his sense of humor. But Marshall is really impressing me, and imo he's the team MVP.
