 MM has basically reported hot, hot, hot - no freaking water. Sounds like you guys are deyhdrating pretty hard. Thanks for the reports! Nice to read what has been going on.
This could be a stupid Q, but on the issue of Nugent only reaching the 5-10 on his kick offs today, is it possible that he was asked to hold back so that the special teams could work on their assignments?
I have to say, I am getting one awesome tan from training camp. It's the second biggest reason why I go now. Almost as good as going to the beach!! Just lay down, take 3 bleacher rows for yourself, and you'll be dark red in no time.
It makes sense to me, but I know bugger all. More importantly, welcome to the board. Don't worry about your questions being stupid. I have got that area covered.
But how would that allow them to work on assignments? Even so...they're probably not telling him to kick it as hard as he can when they are doing drills. I'd like to know how far Lindell and rackers and Akers, etc kick their kickoffs in TC practice...
Yes a good thing for our pass rush, but I find it a bit disturbing on the offensive side of the ball... EDIT: I think I can remember the guest host saying that D'Brick was getting "worked" by B. Thomas. Can one of you TC guys investigate this tomorrow?
I took some pictures today with my very basic digital camera, and put together a slide show. Nothing too exciting (and not at the level of Petrozza by a long shot), but you can see Mangini looking on, Chad and Brooks passing, Nugent kicking, and some tired-looking defensive players at drills. Enjoy! http://w11.photobucket.com/widgets/...featurename=Trainingcamp&pa=/a164/statjeff22/
Nobody has ever said "worked" but first of all Mangini has already said they are both coming along but still need to adapt. Secondly, Thomas is lighter now and plays OLB, not DE. He ran a 4.6 at DE weight, so imagine how fast he is now. If a team's OLBs can't give the OTs trouble in drills, then that team has some problems at OLB. Let's see how he fares in one on ones with the DEs and judge him based on that, that and 11 on 11 scrimmages where he has a particular assignment....can he figure it out, find the guy, and make a good enough block? That's what's important.
Maybe someone who is going tomorrow will read this before they go...especially the guy who is apparently going to be watching the O-line. Can you please take a look for Steve Morley...how many reps he is getting and what team he is in there with and how he looks...thanks.
Thanks. And here's a quiz for those who are interested - there is something unusual in two of the pictures that you wouldn't ever see in a game. Those who have been to training camp know exactly what I'm talking about, but if you haven't, you might have no idea what's going on. Any guesses what I'm talking about and what's going on? Edit: I'm not talking about the red "don't touch me" QB jerseys.
The orange caps on the receivers helmets? The offense and defence and wearing different colours? There are garbage cans on the field? And will you look for Morley tomorrow...and Alailafuela?
Almost correct - it's not just receivers. Do you know why they are wearing them? I won't be there - talk to TBJ, 227, MM, 1028, etc.
I think I saw a D-lineman with a yellow one on...but I have no clue what purpose they serve. I have seen them before though on other teams....maybe to differentiate between what offensive and defenseive group you are with?
The offense and defense always wear different colors, so that in drills, 7 on 7, 11 on 11, etc., you can tell who is on your "side." During special teams drills, there's a problem - both offensive and defensive players are on both the kicking team and the receiving team, so it's impossible to tell who you're supposed to block or tackle (or at least pretend to block or tackle). The kicking team wears the orange caps on their helmets, so that you can tell which side is which. Interesting, no?
