Yes really. IF they were he would have been headed to Minnesota, Baltimore or Miami by now!

Well, not really funny, is it.

He has choices... he doesn't have to accept the reduction in pay. It is most likely he will though with the agreement that he competes for the job (if that hasn't been already determined).

The off-season is not over yet either so we will see what happens. Something else might develop before everything is said and done. Saying he has no choice though is not the truth, yet. Lot of wishful thinking on the parts of people that hate having the guy around still.

Someone pointed out the other day that Chad spoke up on a Marshall blog that he was working out in Bradenton getting ready to win back the starter's job with the Jets.

Sounds like he expects a competition.

Two are three ways to go on this:

    1) Let Pennington & Clemens figure it out
    2) Get a FA QB that is qualified to drive the new car (Maybe a guy like Quinn Gray this year or top avail next year)
    3) Drafting a guy like a Matt Ryan and gamblimg he turns out to be the next Roethlisberger so they get the money back in time from that o-line.

I guess I should have started with 'Here are all the scenarios.'

    I like number 1.:)

Right. Last year he won ONE game. Against the worst team in football.

    ya lost me...

...although Quinn Gray is another alternative. Josh McCown did pretty well on a really bad team last year...dunno what he'll cost though.

I was doing a quick search the other day to find a pic for the hot chicks thread, and out of nowhere this photo showed up.

    Pretty cool, huh?

and last year was the first year he struggled when healthy, the first time he was healthy and didn't lead us to the playoffs. You don't give up on a guy after 1 bad half a season where he was way down on the list of problems.

And he wasn't really healthy after having his ankle get trounced on.

Plus, he didn't play too bad against the Pats in the freezing ice game with 2nd string reps during the week leading up to the game.

... I think the answer is going to be .... (Drum roll please!) Chris Simms!!!!!! No idea why Gruden traded for Brian Greise last week.

I would say that the QB never got a chance to struggle, because the OL was a sieve and shut down the offense regularly to maybe 10% to 15% of its alternatives. Now that's what I call a great opportunity for a QB and his skill players to shine.

Of course you can blame it on the skill players. After all Anthony Clement, when he whiffed on a block that resulted in a vicious sack of his QB last year -- "S...T HAPPENS."

Given the current circumstances, it is very appropriate.

Options 2 and 3 don't fit with the High Cost of 08 and 09 just committed to by the NYJ FO. I think the only one that fits the cost benefits analysis of this FA period is option 1.
