I always see that about how "the future nucleus of the team is Leon, B. Smith, Revis, rhodes, harris and Clemens" and I always say to myself BRAD SMITH???? --- Hey, I love the guy and love the fact that he was a 4th round pick that we found, but future nucleaus of the team is stretching it a little bit, isnt it? I dont want to start a semantics thread who the nucleus of the team is, but to me the future young stars are Ferguson, Mangold, Clemens, Cotch, Harris, Revis and Rhodes........and whoever we are going to draft w/the 5th pick overall. I'm glad that Mosley is finally getting some mention. I've watched this guy during the summer exhibition and his motor was constantly going. I was so disappointed this year that he didnt get many more snaps, because it looked to me like he earned them. I'm saying he deserved to be in the starting lineup or on his way to Hawaii, but damnit this kid looked like he did what he had to do to earn some reps & they just treated him like the HERM days. He always seemed to be hard to block, plus he'd make a couple of plays during a game. My point is (after all that) was HE IS A STRONG RESERVE PLAYER THAT DESERVES MORE.
If they dont get a true NT by next year, it's going to be the same rotation with Pouha, D-Rob, Mosley, DeVito and maybe Kareem Brown if he shows something. that seems to be a lot of DTs to keep on a 3-4 team, but maybe they will use two DTs together more often.
What's so crazy about cocaine parties on a yacht? So, basically, Woody said less than Madden on game days? BOOM! He should have been more threatening if you ask me. Light some fire under them. I'm tired of the mild-mannered approach. We're 3-9 afterall. He should have called out Bryan Thomas, Hobson. "We have a strong core on D, but it's hard to get pressure to the opponents QB when your OLBs play like flies stuck in glue."
GM, coaches and player interviews are a waste of time. I switch the radio when anyone of these come on and when someone quotes Russo about the jets or in Football in general I laugh. You might as well quote a 10 year old. He is a baseball geek who does not even have a football team, is jealous of the NFL's popularity. And the Clemens thing is hilarious. He's not sold. No shit sherlock, he's playing his 4th game durr. He will refer to the Cowboy game from now until next season. You watch. Meanwhile, he gets better each week but is still a work in progress.
God man, you nail Mad Dog cold. I was thinking the same thing. "He was HORRIBLE in Dallas...." No kidding. He's 24 years old and our front line was a sieve against those rhinos. But yeah, the Dallas game was a good game for Dog, because we'll be hearing about it all winter now.
I agree; siting the Dallas game as judgement of Clemens is retarded. As an entire team, we sucked that day; which really nothing new. Whenever we are physically outgunned on both lines we are doomed; it wouldn't matter if Peyton Manning was back there.
Yeah Clemens looked real shaky with 2 days to prep on the road Vs a Super Bowl Contender... Hmmmm, Dog, So how did the Great Brett Farve look Vs Dallas the next week with a full week of practice and just "a few" more games under his belt?????? Huh Huh you little #$*%*$#
I've really had enough of this Kendall business. It's probably the most overblown event of the whole off-season. The Jets did a smart thing. In the Parcells/Bradway era, this guy would have gotten a 3 year 9 million dollar extension. Everyone's looking for a scapegoat for the reason why this season hasn't turned out the way we wanted it to. There's lots of them, but guard is way down the chain. We're not 9-3 with Kendall, bottom line. Moreover, the Jets have had no negotiations with the likes of Rhodes or Vilma and it's good to be consistent in that regard. To follow that path with two young guys who have Pro Bowl laden futures in front of them but make an exception for an over-the-hill guard with a big mouth would have been terrible precedent. In the end, Tannenbaum was even able to get something for Kendall. The way things look now, he's going to be worth a fourth round pick. A fourth round pick for a player we probably would have cut. All in all, a pretty solid deal. -X-
Ethan Kelley of Cleveland Browns is our man at NT. He is an unrestricted free agent once this 2007 season ends. He is really the only young, big & relatively decent NT in the game right now that is going to be unrestricted in 2008 (at least the only one I can think of). It looks like Cleveland is going to be sticking w/Shaun Smith (new 4yr contract in 2007) & Ted Washington, so they wont be able to keep Kelley.
Honestly, I haven't seen much of Kelley at all this season, but my concern is the team that he's on and knowing how bad against the run they are. Is he really an upgrade or just a big guy who's not any good? I'm not trying to be sarcastic or anything, just don't know enough about him and only know that the Browns' run D is awful.
