Exactly. IMO Revis should also be benched, and let Burris play more. We aren't going anywhere this year so playing vets, especially those who aren't going to be on the team next year is stalling your evaluation process. Instead of knowing what Petty or Hack could be, Bowles wants to save his own skin by squeaking out a game or two, maybe one against the pats. Like I said before, he may look back at his presser yesterday with regret. I truly believe there is a significant chance he gets canned. Also have to wonder how Woody will react to people criticizing the power structure of the organization. Maybe he revises it and allows Macc to hand pick his own head coach? Rather than have both report to Woody

Mitch Trubisky from UNC or Watson from Clemson. I like both.

    Meh.

I haven't seen a college QB I've been really impressed by since Bridgewater or, before that, Russell Wilson. I know some posters on here love them some Mariota, but as a Tennessee resident, I see a lot of him and am not overwhelmed.

That's not to say he wouldn't be a massive improvement over anything we have on the roster--he clearly would.

I like Watson alright, but don't think he's tankworthy.
I haven't seen much of Trubisky outside of highlight reels--maybe he's the bee's knees.

today was a great game for those interested in tanking. Entertaining, hard fought game that they lose in the end

This seems extremely subjective and like a load of bullshit without much fact behind it.

Just saying. It seems like this would take an abundance of research that you would thus show us rather than a slapped together theory.

Fair enough, it's a little subjective, but I think MOST people would draw the same conclusion if they went back and looked at those drafts.
I had it pulled up on 20 different windows plus an excel spreadsheet where I compiled the top 5 picks from each draft, all the Pro Bowlers from each draft (along with draft position and number of Pro Bowls), as well as any HOFers. I did not look up All-Pros, although that would have been more useful than Pro Bowls.

Then I looked through all the players who made Pro Bowls or the HOF, and tried to determine who MOST people would think was the best player from that draft (not who I think was the best player). Some were pretty easy, and some were not. But usually, the best player wasn't in the Top 5.

From 1990 to 2010 my best player (which is the only subjective part of the equation) along with overall draft position in each draft was as follows:

    Emmitt Smith (17)
    Brett Favre (33)
    Robert Porcher (26)
    Michael Strahan (40)
    Marshall Faulk (2)
    Curtis Martin (74)
    Marvin Harrison (19)
    Tony Gonzalez (13)
    Peyton Manning (1)
    Tory Holt (6)
    Tom Brady (199)*
    LaDanian Tomlinson (5)
    Julius Peppers (2)
    Troy Polamalu (16)
    Ben Roethlisberger (11)
    Aaron Rodgers (24)
    Mario Williams (1)
    Calvin Johnson (2)
    Matt Ryan (3)
    Clay Matthews (26)
    Rob Gronkowski (42)

*because Brady was picked so far from the top, his draft position was not used to average the position of the best player taken. Instead, I used Brian Urlacher (9) as the best player taken in the first round.

I freely admit these are subjective. Feel free to disagree with any of them.
