One of the worst days in Jets history. We've now lost out on the chance to get the generational QB prospect as well as any chance of landing a decent head coach. We're going to get another third-rate coach like Todd Bowles and be stuck with a JAG QB in Darnold, who we're going to have to pay big time money in order to keep. To hell with this franchise.
We have to hope that Fields has a great CFP, someone falls in love with him and we trade down for a haul and either look at Lance or build out the rest of the team. Or we take Fields, roll Darnold another year while he sits.
I'm not sure many understand the significance of losing the number 1 pick. This franchise is fu@$#$. I dont want to here about all the picks we have and the rebuild around Sam, blah blah blah. 32 years and this is it for me. Like I told my Dad earlier, ill root for the Jaguars now as I live in Florida. And before someone else says it, "I'll let the door hit me on the way out". Good luck all
For all those freaking out: Plenty of teams have done great without going 0-16. No team has done shit as the result of going 0-16. one guy was not going to make this team great, and it’s possible we were never going to get that guy anyway. Hell maybe Jax wins a game, or maybe we win more. Rooting to lose every single game was never a good plan.
OMFG I think after 5 decades I am close to done with this fucking team The Rams have to be ass to lose to us ...oh no
So you are a highlight reel expert, two games, yeah? I've seen him play extremely well against very good defenses. Those two games doesn't define the caliber of QB he Is.
This is just embarrassing. When you're this bad at something - anything in life, really - you need to prioritize figuring out how to be better in the long haul, not in small, irrelevant windows. This is not a good thing, this win is potentially more destructive to the potential the Jets had than any individual accomplishments, injuries, breakouts that could have happened in the next 3 weeks. To not have safeguards in place to prevent it is inexcusable. Douglas needed to do whatever it took to maximize the fruit of a season that was already miserably lost. There were only three weeks left and the franchise was in control of their destiny for a generational QB prospect. You have to make that happen. Have to. I'll eventually shake it off, but to me this is the first massive mistake of the Douglas era, and gives me some pause about what to expect going forward.
I see clearly. all those thinking an 0-16 tank was a fruitful endeavor to bank their hopes on....they need the pep talk.
At least all the talk of a new Qb can die now. Draft Sewell and Najee Harris (rd. 1), draft top WR in rd. 2....get a new coach - CJ Mosley returns + add a few more pieces on defense.... This team will be a lot better + you give Darnold a fair chance with better line, and playmakers... If he fails with more support, the team will be ready/built for next Qb.
