    Actually played the Bears that year...Jets kept it close for awhile but lost 19-6...But that Bears team was the greatest NFL team i'd ever seen...I know some might disagree ..

    Yeah I remember a Saturday game. Cold as hell......the defense actually fared pretty well - they held Walter Payton under 100 yards. It was his first game without 100 yards in quite a while.

    The offense could not get untracked - the Bears DL pretty much manhandled the Jets OL that day ( the Bears defense pretty much manhandled everybody that year ) Pat Leahy did hit a 55 yard FG - his longest ever. That loss ended any realistic hope of the AFC East title......but as I said earlier the 1985 Jets were a pretty solid squad....

    If Walton coached like that every game the outcomes may have been different in 83, 85, and 86.
