They seemed to have clicked yesterday before that 4th quarter collapse. This Jets team is reminding me too much of that 2008 Titans team.
I look at the 2006 Colts - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_Indianapolis_Colts_season Probably the least dominant of the colts teams over the last 10 years, won lucky games, escaped games, etc...that was the year they won it all. It's liked they learned how to win tight games all year and just carried it through. I tend to think the Jets are learning the same thing and still have a lot of potential to get better -- they just need to clean things up fast. Beat cinci - don't look ahead - and a huge playoff style game in New England on Monday night!
I read through this entire thread, and there is just 1 salient point... The Jets have the best record in football, period. Is it pretty? Well, Sanchez is going up there with Manning and Brady soon, but who really gives a flying F about pretty. It's football. The Jets are (ask Parcells) the best team in the league. I was convinced in the 3rd quarter, and I was convinced again in the 4th. We're getting some playoff action, and what more can you ask for?
We are 8-2, and I'm thrilled. However, we all have the highest expectations this year, and want this team to win it all. I know that every week in the NFL is tough, especially road games, but we only have 1 win over a playoff caliber team so far. It is only normal to question this team right now. If we beat NE and Pittsburg, then we will all know we have a team set up for a deep playoff run. However, if we lose one, or both of those games, there will be questions. Every team in the NFL has had at least 2 bad weeeks, but most of them have also had a few dominant weeks. We have played to the level of our competition in all but one game-- Buffalo. While we have outplayed all of our opponents in my opinion, we have yet to have that dominant game that shows you what your teams potential is. The Jets have shown us it's offensive potential in some games, defensive potential in others, and special teams in a few, but we have yet to put all three together. I think it's obvious that our D is good, not great. We need a pass rush in the worst way.
Atleast our guys breakout into dance or pretend to be a real Jet for good reason, and not like the bungles idiots who breakout into dance for no apparent reason and still lose. Like I suggested to the bungals organization; forget playing the actual game just have T.O and stinko do micheal Jackson moves for a couple of hours. Cut to the chase so to speak.
These positive "haven't clicked yet" arguments confuse me. Why are we assuming they're ever going to click? Why are they more likely than the 8 other teams with similar talent/records to click?
TO and Ochocinco are content with the way this season is going because both of them are putting up good numbers and the Bengals passing offense in general has good numbers (haven't checked but I'm assuming their numbers are good)
Who exactly is better than we are??? Maybe the Falcons? They've played good consistent football all year. Make a case for any other team you want and I'll shoot holes in it.
Green Bay. Unless we get to face them in the Super Bowl, there's no way you can say they aren't a better team than us at this point.
No team is perfect and some of the issues can be corrected. Our pass rush and safety coverage, Eric Smith are you listening, are my major concerns. How bout a blow out on Thursday to make us all feel better. Maybe we are one of those teams that play down or up to our opponent? We shall find out in 2 weeks. 8-2 that's all I know
1) Because we saw it last year. We know what this team - particularly the defense is capable of. 2) Our talent on all sides of the ball has improved vastly from last year. 3) We came within a game of the Super Bowl and that was when we were losing consistently at this point in the season. For all intents and purposes the team can play much better than it has and is still winning despite itself. 4) Rex will likely call the shots on defense when it matters most.
Why do you assume that anybody is assuming that the 2010 Jets are going to click on all cylinders? is it okay w/you if we just enjoy the games and the season and rooting for our team? Why are you assuming that we think that this team is necessarily any more likely to click than any other team is? We are 8-2 w/the best record in the NFL. Can't we enjoy that? Is it okay that we are having fun cheering for the Jets or are we required to walk around being miserable because the team might not win the SB in 2011? Like alot of fans, I'm just enjoying the wins and enjoying the ride. I am psyched to beat Cincy in a rematch and move on from there.
Good football team ... but lost 3 games in a 4-game stretch including losses to Miami and Washington ... and nearly lost all four, as they narrowly beat the Lions after being out-gained by 200 yards n their own building. They got every break in the world against us and the game stayed 3-0 forever ... and they were still only clinging to a 6-0 lead with 30 seconds left in the game. they're good. They're not better than us on 7 out of 10 days.
We need to figure out a few kinks here and there, but I can't complain, this team right now isn't ready to win it all, we still have plenty to learn this season, and I think the Foxboro game and the Steelers game will be key for our development as we go onto the playoffs
