Yeah, I normally do not like fans with this logic, however it might be time for changes to happen. If the Jets would go on a roll like many fans hope, it could save Rex, Geno, Idzik, etc, but will the Jets be a better team in 2015? Many questions to answer over the next few months. I think that final 9 is favorable though, so any finish worse than (5-4) will surely end in Rex being fired. Anything better? Who knows.
You're right, it's very unlikely. However, overcoming adversity to go 7-2 over the second half of a season is nothing to sniff at, and even Woody Johnson will know that. We'll see, but should this actually happen, Johnson will probably rather eat his words than give away a coach as hot as Rex would be at that point. If the Jets go 7-2 to result 8-8, Rex will be the hottest name on the open market if he gets fired.
I don't any easy games left on our schedule except MAYBE the Vikings. Every other team we're gonna be facing has beaten us in the not too distant past. Not being a fan of the Status Quo, I think the best that can happen is we continue keeping it respectable, but move up in the draft standings just so that Idzik has another chance to draft a blue chip prospect. If that means losing, so be it as long as it brings change to the organzation. I got them 1-2 going into the bye with losses to both Pitt and KC, 3-3 over their final 6 winning their last game for the Rexter.
Historically, we've been below medicority so I'm ok with swimming in medicority for a few seasons. I don't think firing Rex and Idzik is the answer.
I hear all of this, but this was the argument at the end of last season. We were supposedly turning the corner at the end of last year. We finished strong, we were ready to take another step in the right direction . . . and then we didn't. I'm just not sure that same song and dance will sell anymore. We'll see. And I'm very uncertain as to how coveted Rex will be coming off of four non-winning, non-playoff years, but if Harbaugh is available, I can't imagine Rex being more coveted than him.
I really think we have a shot at all four of those teams. I'm not saying we will beat all 4 but I'm saying we could beat any of them.
Hahahah why the actual FUCK are people so desperate to keep Rex. He STINKS. Holy fuck!! Do people even watch the games? Then they'll keep him and next year the same crap will go on and you'll be still defending him then
You honestly think we're going to Arrowhead and beating the Chefs? And while I think we could beat the other three, it would not shock me if we went 2-1, 1-2 or 0-3. 3-0 would shock me. _
Thing is, if the Jets ever want to get over the hump they have to start beating the teams they just lost 5 in a row to. Yeah, there isnt a game the Jets cant win on the rest of the schedule. But a strong finish shouldnt cover up whats been an overall disappointing season. I go back and forth on if I want Rex fired or not. I think he's a good coach, and that really should be the only thing that matters at the end of the day but this organization has operated without a legit franchise QB for far to long and I just think the next one we end up inevitably drafting should be put in the best position to succeed, and I think that comes with an offensive minded HC. The most annoying of people are those who believe their own opinions to be facts. Usually children struggle with that concept, but it fades as they mature. Some adults still can't distinguish opinion from fact. A strong case can be made for Rex being a great head coach; a strong case can be made for him being a subpar head coach. We have conflicting views, but the ridiculous response you typed up is representative of what a 5th grader would say. Allow me to rewrite for you: "I'm not terribly desperate to keep Rex. He has extremely poor clock management and no regard for the offensive side of the ball. I think his ability to motivate is overrated and the franchise would be better off moving on from him." Boom. Now you sound like an adult making a coherent argument.
