How is he not high reward? Have you seen the numbers he puts up? How is it not low risk? If he becomes a problem at all you cut him if he's getting minimum salary. I'd prefer Braylon Edwards.
So we could bring in a late rounder and Braylon, but it wouldn't work with T.O.? Like I said, I prefer Braylon, but that may not be an option. Completely different situation than T.O.
A late rounder and Braylon both could contribute for the next 3-5 years. T.O has garbage in the tank, hes old and worn down And how is Plax that much different ? Headcase diva wr? Check Significant Injurys ? Check Out of NFL for over a full season? Check At least Plax was healthier and younger and is FAR less of a team killer/nut case than T.O
Plax was never anywhere near the receiver that T.O. was. Plax put up trash numbers prior to missing 2 full seasons. T.O. missed one and has been playing football in the meantime instead of playing don't drop the soap. I've read that plax was a huge problem in the Jets locker room. Plax also cost more than T.O. reportedly would.
According to some posters here, the Jets have the talent to be a Super Bowl contender if only they could fix their holes ... if Terrell Owens is "the answer" to the Jets "hole" at WR, that ain't a "hole" you guys have but a freakin' mine shaft to the middle of the Earth! Owens has been washed up for at least a couple of years. Seriously, you Jets fans need to aim at least a little higher! What about Randy Moss? I think he's been out of football for less time than TO.
T.O. hasn't put up lesser numbers than either of Santonio Holmes Jets seasons since 2005 when he only played 7 games. You'd have to go back to 1996 in his rookie year to find another season worse than either of Holmes' two Jet seasons. If that's a "washed up" T.O., I'll take it. Randy Moss already signed with the 49rs. I would worry about him being motivated. T.O. has ALWAYS been motivated, it's whether or not he is going to play nice that you have to worry about. He generally does play nice in his first season anyway. As a "Bills fan" I'd expect you to know that.
I would also prefer Braylon, if only for his rapport with Sanchez, but having said that... I still believe that the upside to T.O. outweighs the trouble he can cause. At league minimum he can be cut as soon as he becomes a problem. What I see is a man who is desperate to get back into the NFL (accepting league minimum) and will do all he can to impress other teams for a big payday. Use him for a year.
T.O. Is no longer an NFL talent. This is not even a consideration. Thanks, but no thanks. Die thread.
T.O. was injured last season. The season prior to that he outperformed our #1 WR. Explain how he's no longer an NFL talent.
There was a time when I thought that a Rex Ryan locker room could overcome emotionally challenged wide receivers creating havoc with team chemistry. That time ended prior to last season.
For the longest time, I've said that TO was a cancer and that even with his talent, he was a detriment to the team. Based on everything that I have seen of late, it seems that TO may have finally matured and could indeed be an asset for at least the short term. Then again, it might all just be a stage show / con job. ?
