that will make a power pitches that much more valuable than a groundball pitcher.we already have K's as a cat. keep holds we already have a25 man roster just like real life.that's what I like about this league
So far the voting is tied 3-3 for dropping holds and adding k/9. 17a, Devil and I voting no Naich, 10pen10/SJ & Mantana voting yes. The rest of the league needs to vote. Adding losses is not an option, that would be like adding strikeouts on the offensive side and this is a league where there arent negative stats.
Why isn't it an option? All leagues have negative stats. Football has picks and fumbles. Basketball has Turnovers. I suppose you could count the minus half of +/- in hockey.
Just never intended for any negative stats on it. The majority of football leagues I am in dont use ints/fumble. Some do, some dont. But you are right, this is a democratic league so in the best interests of the league, if the league votes for it, it will be added.
Depends on one's perception. For me, not good. I personally don't like the "unique" stats that have been added. I like 5x5. I think adding OPS is just another category to help sluggers out, those who are already properly credited by HR and RBI. Holds just throws the pitching half out the window. It's designed for starters and closers. That's how every fantasy guide in the universe prepares its rankings and tips - 5x5. In this league, Kyle Farnsworth is going to be worth more than half the mlb's closers. That and I can't stack sleeper closer picks to control the category, because I only have 4 available spots between HLD guys and SV guys. It's like learning to play the game all over again. With that said, even if I lose every request I make for a more normalized system, I still want to play, just for the sake of challenging the guys I know around here.
its shouldn't be OPS that's slugging plus OBP I want OBP you say your in 4 leagues which are the same,so why not try something different
The holds stat does not make the setup man more important than a closer. A setup man does not get more holds than a closer gets saves. Tom Gordon and Scot Shields tied for the league lead in holds with 33 each. Thats it. You are over emphasizing a stat that doesnt play into your strategy or knowledge. These stats were voted on by all owners, including yourself, last year. No one seemed to object then, but we will see how the remaining owners vote on it. This is not a "normal" league. It is a 6x6 league and to be competitive you will have to adjust to it. OPS will get switched to OBP. I wasnt sure which one we had last year.
buttle, can we make OPS (which is slugging plus on base %) to just OBP (on base %)? oh and yea KEEP HOLDS!!!!!!!!!!!
The reason I hate holds is that there are way fewer pitchers that actually get holds on a consistant basis than saves on a regular basis. Even if you have a really good relief pitcher, they don't always get holds for their efforts. It does basically force you to chose between having either closers or setup guys. You basically have to give up one stat to compete in the other.
You also have to remember that this isnt rotisserie where total amounts are needed. This is head to head where you just have to beat the team you are playing against.
